Since being back in Colorado, I've decided to start traveling around a lot of the known and unknown parks to truly understand why they call Colorado "God's Country." During the week, I sit behind a desk and just draw useless doodles while waiting to find out what I really need to do...Lets be realistic, I can't wait to put in my retirement package and finally get out.
I usually do some research behind the parks before I head out my door....just so I really know if I'm headed in the right direction and how far I need to drive before my bladder explodes and I have to pull over to pee. This weekend, I ended up going to Eldorado Canyon State Park!
It's a huge park, with a run off from the higher peaks. We've been having some nasty rainstorms this summer, but whose gonna complain when you get to see this gorgeous site as soon as you walk into the park!
I was originally going to try to hike up to Rattlesnack Gorge, unfortunately it was closed due to a high amount of snakes reported earlier. So basically, I kinda just took a route and started hiking as far as possible. It was roughly 90 degrees outside, so it was a little on the hotter side. A lot of area was dedicated to rock climbers, so if you are ever in Colorado and love climbing, I would def recommend this area to any and all!
I thought I could peak over the cliffs to get a view of Boulder, but unfortunately, I had to have climbing equipment to get over the last cliff. However, I was able to get some sweet strawberries up there. As a heads up, if bugs scare the living shit out of you...yeah not a place to go visit. Never I have ever seen so many spiders, grasshoppers, crickets, and whatever else while climbing!
Overall, I walked about 6 miles, and it was well worth it. A place that I would def go back to, especially in the Winter to see the water frozen!
