I had a seizure due to my medication in January of 2013. The MRI was fine, the EEG* and Video EEG* were both fine. Nothing wrong with my brain in any way...until now.
I randomly collapsed second period, which is around 9:02am. I had felt perfectly fine before I collapsed, just casually working on my English homework. I had also slept fine the night before. After waking up on the floor, there was a large termor running though my arms. It took our school nurse at least 5 minutes+ to get there, because her office is now in our science wing, which is not connected to the main building. (The schools undergoing renovations).
I was a bit disoriented for about 5 minutes. I sort of knew I was at school, but still had some trouble recognizing things. I went home and everything was fine, except for a small fever of 99 degrees.
The next morning: I eat breakfast and start to walk to school, and then become mildly disoriented during the walk. Just things seeming a bit out of place and some fuzziness. It went away by the time I got to school which was about 30 minutes later. Then again, around 9:02, 2nd period, the disorientation comes back.
After a trip to the neurologist, I now have to have another EEG to find out what the heck is going on with my brain. At first they thought it might be the medication, which I was allowed to go back on because it only caused one seizure and I'm not seizure prone. For some reason, it was supposed to be at 100m and we had it at 200m, but that's because we don't remember the neurologist from January ever saying anything about a dosage. I'd been on that 200m dosage for about a year now, and it has never caused any problems, so the neurologist (the new one from the collapse), doesn't think it's the mediation that caused my collapse.
On Monday, it'll be back to Children's Hospital to have them stick gunk in my hair to keep the nodes for the test on. That stuff took days to come out the last time.
Hopefully, this time we'll get some answers and not a "nothing seems to be wrong ", when it looks like something is actually wrong.
*An EEG is a test where they look at brainwaves. They flash lights, have you blow on a pinwheel, and you sleep (so they can see what your brainwaves do when you're asleep), to test for any kind of seizure or other neurological disorder. For the sleep part, you do have to be sleep deprived the day of the EEG.
* A video EEG is the same as a normal EEG, just done overnight in the hospital where they watch you with a camera. (No cameras in the bathroom though).
