I'm currently reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas. I'm writing a literary analysis after I finish for a project.

I read a few books at a time. One sits on my bedside table that I read to fall asleep. That one is currently a 3-in-1 of Frankenstein, Dracula, and Dr. Jeckyl. My book for commutes/bus rides is a book called "Mind of the Raven" that caught my eye for the developmental and social behaviors of maturing ravens.

I'm in between several series right now. The one I'm most wanting to finish is the Black series. I need to read Red, but I haven't been able to get my hands on it. I guess I'll have to break down and buy the last two books.

That book was a boring read for me. MY favorite book based in Africa for an English class was The Power of One.

I advice you to read Dune (6 tomes or 7 !) by Frank Herbert. Maybe it will fits your interests. Since you read Lord of the rings, did you read bilbo the Hobbit, the Silmarillon by Tolkien two ? I'll try to remember and find you other books fantasy/science fiction that you may like, right now I only know the names in French :(

Dune is absolutely phenomenal. The subsequent Frank Herbert ones are all worthy but the Brian Herbert ones, not so much.

The Silmarillion is like trying to read a brick wall made out of nonsense words xD
I couldn't get past the first page without ending up with bloody eyes.

I read the Silmarillon when I was like 17 years old, and in English. I don't know how I did that x) But true it's a little difficult.

The only use I ever found for the Silmarillion was as a glossary and elfish dictionary.

I'm reading the Ranger's Apprentice series, currently at the 5th book =D. I should be reading "Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less", tho, from Jeffrey Archer.
