Hey everyone,

We have forum rules. Did you know that? Apparently some of you don't, because they're not being followed (or you just think that they don't apply to you because you're too cool for rules <_<).

Whatever the case, here they are: http://www.neocodex....on/#entry838233

You best learn them before you get into some serious trouble with the Administrators, or the Staff.

I will cover some of the most common infractions that we see, and what you're in for if you commit them:

Flaming: This is perhaps the most prevalent offence on Neocodex, and it involves hostile and insulting interaction between two or more members. Usually punishment varies anywhere from removal of the post, to warns, to suspensions. Usually bans are issued rarely for this type of incident, unless it's been happening very often, or if you just just joined and think you're too cool for our site.

Scamming: The second-most common offense is sadly, scamming. This occurs when a user deliberately deceives another user out of money or assets, which results in a loss. Convicted scammers are immediately banned from the site, no questions asked.

We also enjoy a collaboration with some Neopets cheating sites (ie. the ones who don't feel that they're too high and mighty to interact with us) in that we share information about convicted scammers to prevent them from moving between sites. Presently, this type of collaboration exists between DarkZtar and ourselves.

Adult Content: If it's not legally viewable by anyone between the ages of 13 and 18, we don't want it here. It's the law (according to the COPPA Act, and we follow US law here since our servers are based in the United States). Offending material will likely result in warns or suspensions, and possibly a ban if it gets ridiculous. If it's CP, immediate ban, and depending on the severity, a report to federal officials (figured I would mention this, since this has happened before).

You should add no posting on old boards so others dont make the same mistake :/

I thought we didn't allow members to register who are under 13 so we didn't have to deal with COPPA?

You should add no posting on old boards so others dont make the same mistake :/

That's not against the rules.

That's not a hard and fast rule. Generally, it's frowned upon, and you don't win any friends by gravedigging, but it's not usually a punishable offense.

It's just really annoying. That's why zevrom didn't get an official warn for it.

It depends what they're posting, ideally it should be covered by the rules regarding spam anyway. Zevrom is just generally annoying though so we should probably have a rule for that too imo.

Whether it's a rule or not, I think some sort of guideline needs to be set for this. We get fussed at for gravedigging, but if we start a new topic on it we get fussed at, too. So...maybe after a post is dead for so many weeks or months it will be ok to start a new post?

If you're adding something substantive which actually contributes to a thread then it's not gravedigging, if you're just posting crap which adds absolutely nothing to the thread then it would be gravedigging. It's not difficult really.

What's CP? o.0 I kinda want to look it up but I don't wanna get scarred for life :p
And I oppose this suggestion:

There are a few instances where you can dig up some gems. Besides. That puts like the whole digital camera section of the general chat area under lock down....

Zevrom is just generally annoying though so we should probably have a rule for that too imo.

LOL XD

No. because the digital camera section has been replied to. We are talking about posting in topics that were last posted in 2006... The only reason you do that is to boost your post count.

And cp is child porn.

Oh. You learn something new every day.

As for the digital camera section there's still stuff on the first page that's from like 4 years ago. If we're going to have a posting rule maybe put it so you can't post in topics x number of pages back? I dunno

More or less a reminder that the community looks down upon those who don't read the date on the topic's posts and to careful when replying to those threads without any new content or contributing post.

I really think it depends on what the topic is for such as a program topic reporting a issue in a previous topic without making a new one that seems like it's okay.

There isalready one made by PRBM:
Guide: How to Not Look As Stupid As You Do

But maybe it should be updated to include a little more.

I know I refer to them occasionally but never can seem to bother to actually find a hard link. Thanks. :p
