This thread would be better if people posted what games they play for their pvp, pve, rp fix. I do my pvp on world of warcraft (arenas),

i do my RP playing on NWN 2 online. there are some good player run mods where people go on to rp

Im not sure if this counts as rp, but i do play a number of single rpg games as well like baldurs gate 2, well maybe this also counts as PVE.

I don't do pve in MMOs anymore however.

Mostly did World of Warcraft pre-Cataclysm and just after launch; waiting for 4.2 patch before I come back. Gotta get that legendary caster staff. Posted Image
Did a LOT of Final Fantasy XI before that, but PvP sucks there... unless they've changed things since I've gone.
Getting into Grand Fantasia and Shin Megami Tensei, but not aware of the PvP there. PvE is quite fun, especially from a Shin Megami game - which shouldn't be a surprised to anyone who has played the console RPG versions like Persona or Devil Summoner.
Tried Aion - really great PvE but just too basic at the moment. That and still a bit burnt out from WoW and it's more or less a WoW clone repackaged at the core - decent changes though, will probably get back to it in an expansion or two.

Soon as Star Wars Online is out it's probably going to be 75% PvP and 25% PvE.
    For The Hor--... SITH!

Shame we never got a .hack MMO stateside though...
And a Gundam MMO would just make my day.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect... but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey...
    stuff.

PvP all the way. I have ALWAYS played mulitplayer and am really quite competitive. I do occasionally play a game for the PvE element but this is rare, I have a ton of games sitting around that I have hammered on multiplayer and haven't even started the campaign. I crave the feeling you get at the end of a game when the scoreboard pops up and your proudly sitting on the top x.

Although when I used to play WoW for a while I did get quite into raiding but even then I would compete in DPS or HPS with others in the raid.

I've been playing WoW for the past few years, on and off. BGs are fun, I guess, and I can't stand arena. The WoW PvP community doesn't seem that bad, but watching my friends play DotA, CS, etc. turned me off any direct competitive play for a long time. I only started to get into it with SCII but I get mega nervous. I also played a handful of other games, like D2 where I just spent my time MFing.

In Wow, I just like PvE but I started to get really disenchanted with raiding. Officer favoritism meant several terrible players got into the raids, including a girl who was only useful for sleeping with the guild leader and bitching at everyone else for not knowing how to play even though she's dead for 75% of the fight and consistently under-performing in DPS.

I like to make sure I'm doing competitively on the healing charts even though it really doesn't matter and is probably counterproductive for me to do so. :p Sniping heals and straying from healing assignments can really fuck up a fight.

The thing about pve is simply that theres too much politics involved..Whether its in guild or trying to get into a pug. It's pretty ridiculous imo, and all the competition over loot is almost cut throat. I remember things like omg you you were like 100 off from the min DPS for the raid, no loot for you.

Yea, pvp and rts games are a lot better...

Role play is normally my game of choice. It is engaging in a different way, and can allow for the creation of a fun, and long term experience.

I tend to dislike PvP as while winning in fun, most of the time I enjoy gaming for the fun of it, and with RPs I can more closely emulate the idea of a story. My primary source of entertainment is reading fantasy novels, and many RP games are based on fantasy novels, so it is similar to what I find fun in general. I also tend to lack the time and patience to dedicate myself to getting good at a PvP, and not doing well limits the fun of those games.

I like PvP more in online games. I like to beat the shit out of the clueless and I love the thrill of closely winning against another human player.

Monster Hunter would be the only PvE game that I ever played for a very long time. Sucks that it doesn't have a PvP feature though.

That would be pretty silly, considering the premise of the entire game.

I prefer PvE because it is calmer and easier to multi task. Plus, like the real world, it lets me avoid real people o.o But, I do have a PvP build.... which is for the people who go "hardy har har let me kill this PvEr" and then I retaliate by killing them in a few hits Posted Image

    I'm a PvE.

I play lots of MMORPG in the past, and I don't really enjoy PvP-ing. I much rather beat bad guys than beat people. :p Make peace, not war.

I know. But it would've been awesome if there was a PvP element. My friends and I just keep tripping and making each other fly for the "PvP" after a hunt Posted Image

PvE, but group PvE. One of my favourite things to do in WoW would be to do 5 man runs and be able to supply everyone with Goblin BBQs at the start of Cata with my 525 cooking and engineering skills :D Even though I really, really, really sucked they still wanted to keep me on and I felt like I was contributing to something despite my terribleness. I was also a jewelcrafter so that was also helpful in the guild. I was on a PVP server since I was a Resto Druid with mining and herbalism and I would be damned if some Alliance would be stealing my nodes. All of the nodes in Deepholm are mine. ALL MINE. I needed them for prospecting pretty, pretty gems to cut into prettier gems!!!

...No, I'm not obsessed when I play those games at all. Of course not.

    Nostalgia.

PvP does get too competitive though, you always need to beat that idiot who head shotted you and all that. So I would like to do a RPG, but a good one... never heard of a good RPG.

i like group pve too. it makes games more enjoyable when you're not grinding away alone. pvp is fun as well, which helps to develop a sense of skill/tactics
