POPULAR POST!

Status Update Advertising

From now on, no more advertising your personal trades in the status update bar on the right-hand side of the main forum index. People have had enough of their personal status updates being overridden or "spammed-over" by people trying to sell their stuff. If you want to check out what is for sale, or sell something, please keep it in the Trading Post area.

The official Neocodex rules have been amended to bring this into effect, and can be seen in the "spam" section of the long version of the rules: http://www.neocodex....s-long-version/

Failure to follow this rule will result in deletion of the status updates (this is us being nice if you did not bother to read this), having the ability to make status updates revoked completely if you don't catch on to the fact that your statuses are being removed, or a warn issued for spamming if you really don't get it that we don't want these appearing. People would actually like to use that area to update others on what is happening with themselves.

Thanks! :D

2. Status Updates... Come On, People
You know those ads on Facebook that say "You have 2 matches on our dating app"? You know how annoying those are? That's how annoying spamming selling/buying statuses are.

We may have different opinions on what qualifies as spamming, but the point of a status update is to indicate when something about your status changes, not to be your personal billboard.

We're not making anything official, or making hard and fast rules about what constitutes status spamming, or even disallowing selling statuses... YET.

This is a call to everyone's sensibilities to tone it down on the status updates so we don't have to make a rule.

It did not improve.

Thanks so much for this mate, really appreciate it. I mean how hard is it for someone to make a for sale thread and add/subtract to and bump it occasionally :) Gets the same effect :)

thanks man, i remember when stat updates was more like a c-box than a "check out what I'm selling" it's hard to keep up with what's going on with ev!eryone cause of this.

For those of you selling via status, it's not a good idea.
1. Not EVERYONE on the site buys/sells so a lot of people will be ignoring it.
2. Those that DO buy will be looking on the trading post forum, not the stats so they aren't very likely to notice your selling stats.
3. Your selling stats will get bumped off viewing by other selling stats or by people who are just updating their stats, so not long after posting, it will probably be hidden again.

I'm with everyone when I say "Keep your selling in the trading forums, its what it's there for!"

Awesome, less spam.

Let me know how that works out for ya ;)

And awesome SL, best way to deal with it IMO.

Side note; any ideas on dealing with spam in the trading section? PM me/Pm'ed etc etc being very fricking annoying.

But how else will the person be able to inform the seller/buyer that they wish to be messaged privately about the situation? You don't really expect them to do it themselves do you?

Blasphemy.

What if you are looking to buy something, does that go in trading post as well?
