I just recently bought HDMI for my ps3, and I thought it would work for my laptop but I failed to realize this laptop doesn't use HDMI ports, but rather a blue port (5 pins), and another port that looks similar to a HDMI, but I can't make out the writing on it...grrrr if you need any more info please do ask...I'm trying to set this up for a PPV this weekend thanks in advance

I took a quick look online, it doesn't look like any of the L555 series laptops have HDMI out ports. ):

If your TV has a VGA connector that would work, but you'd have to use a separate cable for audio.

Edit: Posting the full model number would help, should be something like L555-XXXXX

I can't seem to find the exact model number, I clicked my computer and it only says L555 model, and as for the cable someone suggested getting a DVI to HDMI cable...never heard of that one before either but it appears most arent 15pin :( grrr

The rest of the model number should be on a white sticker underneath.

Yep.

But unless your TV has a 15-pin VGA port on it, you're not going to be able to hook it up.

The model of your TV would also help.
Some Samsungs do have VGA port (mine does) so you might be in luck. You'll have to get a separate cable for the audio otherwise it'll use your laptop speakers.

I just checked the tv does have a 15 pin port on it...but does a DVI to HDMI work you think? I keep getting referred to it but its difficult finding mine. And also whats a female/male connector?

A DVI to HDMI cable won't work, since you don't have a DVI-out port on the computer.

grrr I'll assume then thats just a input port then? So I should just go by amazon, or bestbuy and see if they have this VGA, because I'm pretty sure the back of my tv has one...its the blue port right?

Assume what is an input port?

I'd imagine Bestbuy would still carry them, same with Amazon. But if you've got an older monitor lying around you might already have the cable, and yes it's the blue port.
