frostz, i find it far more likely that he was not the son of god. In that context, my arguments are correct. If you would remember, the gospels were not written until 60-100 years after his death. they were in no way accurate to the point of certainty, and most of the stories are just based around his teachings. And im sure many people believed that money was bad, and if you hadn't noticed, it seems like most church going people scorn the rich.

Even if he were not the son of god, no one would go around preaching a religion without benefit to themselves, Jesus was not exactly getting rich as a priest of the Church who were held in very high regard by the common people. And who were obviously more wealthy than the common people.

Assuming that Jesus is not the son of god, then we would have to assume that he actually believes in what he says, afterall he does not stand to profit from what he was doing. He is still teaching about what it takes to get into paradise, and not that everyone should "throw away their money and give it to the church to make it more wealthy". Hence he is not teaching that money is the root of all evil as a ploy for the church to get rich or for people's support. Hes not trying to create a new religion, he was fulfilling a prophesy. and he was most certainly not doing it in the way in which people expected after all the Messiah was expected to free the Jews from Roman bondage but Jesus did none of that. People stopped believing in him as the Messiah. Again nothing to do with finding support through appealing to the poor. If he wanted support then he would have been speaking out an rallying the people against the Romans or something

8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.

9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

People did not think money was bad, money was a necessity, People were unwilling to give up their money. In fact Jesus's disciples who were all pretty poor except for maybe the tax collector guy were astonished when they heard that the rich could not enter the kingdom of heaven. Signifying that they thought that money could be used to buy their way into eternal life which Jesus refuted, but again not because it was evil, but because it would be a hindrance..

Church people scorning the rich? again no scriptural evidence.

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.

Why did they throw in large amounts of money? to make themselves look better in the eyes of others. If people were looking up to these people who gave these large sums, then how could people be scorning them? If they were being scorned then they wouldn't be donating so much to the temple

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

Again, Jesus did not say that money was something to be scorned, merely that it made it more difficult to achieve in the eyes of god.

Any religion can be a good or a bad thing. It's good to have something to believe in and to help guide one's life. but following too strongly is usually a bad thing.

The only way Christianity will die out is if people learn to think critically
