Wow, everyone has such rich, full desktops - mine's old, weary, decrepit and completely void of icons. :(

Me, too! I want to make my kitten's photo as my background, but none of the photos look right on the desktop. They're either squished or too stretched out. Bleh.

I take it you're the girl in that pic?

Mine is pretty empty xD I'm not a fan of a ton of icons. I'm all about organization and tons of folders.
I've been wanting to change my desktop background rotation but have been really lazy. I have it set to change to different Gaga themed ones every 5 minutes, this it the one it stopped on. xD Used to be the skin I had on the outside of my iPhone actually.

Question: Why do I only see the words "Posted Image" when I try to view the the images everyone's been posting?
This is a fun thread and seeing everyone's personalized, awesome desktops make me wish (as I do all the time) that I was half as clued in on how to do these things. Mine's just a typical boring one. Wallpaper changes every 15 minutes - cute animals, rainbow colors, landscapes, random colorful stuff etc.

Awesome! My first one was 10,000ft but I only went one more time after that. Amazing experience but very expensive here. $250 per jump. And $2000 to take the course and get a license.

It was 189 when I went, first jump. I want to go again SO bad and learn to do it on my own. The courses add up to be $1398, but I totally don't have that kind of money right now and I live further away from that location. There's another skydiving place close to where I live now, but I haven't checked it out yet. I know it would add up to get my own equipment, too. >_<

My bad, it was 14,000 feet. Oops. What's another thousand feet, eh?!

I went skydiving a few weeks ago and thought it was a bit overrated. I went tandem, so at not stage was I under any illusion that it was potentially dangerous, and hence my heart rate was pretty regular. I think if I jumped myself (which you need to take the course and have a minimum of (x) jumps) it would be a different story.

I probably enjoyed the anticipation of the experience more than the actual jump (took a roadtrip up the coast for the night and jumped the next day).

According to the place I went, there are 8 levels you have to complete to do tandem on your own, and 7 levels for accelerated freefall. I'm sure I would enjoy it a hell of a lot more if I were doing it alone. Still, it was an awesome experience.

It was potentially dangerous. Just less likely to result in a dangerous situation. :p

I jumped from 4,000 feet, but that was with a partially-deployed parachute and was a solo jump. They train you all morning on what to do if it doesn't deploy properly and stuff, but you don't experience much free fall (few seconds at most).

It was still pretty awesome, and the initial rush of jumping on your own was something I hadn't experienced before for sure. To leave the plane, we didn't just jump out. We had to literally grab hold of the wing and slide ourselves down to the end of the wing of the plane and just let go once the jumpmaster said so. It was very windy, haha.

The freefall was the best part, and floating down with the parachute was kind of the time to calm down. When we landed my legs were like jelly. I made sure to get the video and photo package since it was my first time. The only thing that bothered me about the whole experience was the high pitched ringing in my ears while we were free falling. They hurt for about 10 minutes after we landed, but I'm sure all that is to be expected.

You know the record is 102,000 ft. At that height you're in the upper most layer of the atmosphere and can clearly see the curvature of the earth. The jump lasted 14 minutes with 4.5 minutes of free fall.

I would love to try it that way. Climbing on to the wing and being that high up with so little keeping you from falling. Sounds awesome :p

Also steering the parachute is really fun too. I only got to do that my second time but it was really cool how sensitive the steering was.
