I'm going to leave this here, but please try to make replies more than one word (unless, of course, that one word is particularly witty). I hate having to invisi posts and decrease post count... it's such a pain in the ass.

Fuckin' lazy mod. Just do it. That dude is a twerp.

xD I like how you speak your mind. +rep for that, good sir.

This gentlemen and ladies, is why we can't have nice things. Then again everyone quoted is still amazingly awesome, especially punk and jcr.
ANYWHO, I think waser had the best idea yet, perhaps it is best we have something unrelated entirely to post counts and rep, maybe even a weird cross breed of the two that would essentially be unspammable. We could have a hidden 3rd or 4th "total" that requires you to earn a series of 1,000 points or such. Whenever you post or get repped it adds 1 to that score but only up to a certain limit, for instance if I somehow(heaven forbid if I EVER pulled this off then the cancer also turned me into a stud muffin, which is unlikely according to punk oh so long ago) got 100 rep it would add to the total but only up to 75 points leaving 925 more points to go. You could, throw on requirements as well, but we don't know what they are, perhaps we need 50 +1's, 700 posts, 200 brownie points, and 50 trader score, but we don't know this, it'd be a formula reserved for the mods and admins, in the end it would essentially be "unspammable" due to the fact no one would know what they should be getting, or what the cap is towards their score. You could have diminishing returns towards the score as well, if they tried to go overboard with posting or +1'ing they'd send their score down. Days logged on could add to this score as well, maybe you need 6 months at minimum before you can get advanced status. Just saying and all. O_o my longest rant ever.

Make the punishment for meaningless repping really high and the problem should go away on its own within a week or so after the system is implemented.

The problem that remains is determining what grounds rep can be given on, and having the community understand that. See, the problem with the rep system in the first place is that people give reputation when they want to give it not necessarily when it is deserved. It becomes more like a respect currency and it creates a social hierarchy on the forums. The system is impossible to police or use effectively as its very nature is completely flawed.

Just my opinion.

Edit: Cool, just quoted a post from page 1. LOL

I don't believe mods or admins can tell who has repped who; nonetheless it wouldn't be as hard to implement as you say it would be, if someone were to rep several people for the same reason (reason being something stupid) then simply catch them on this, if what I said at first isn't true.

Also I believe this thread is useless now because admins are apparently working on something.

Just because we can doesn't mean we want to.

I asked SL way back when when I rarely got rep and he said where the rep is stored isn't on their side by the other side (not really sure what that meant). They can tell who gave you rep on a post, but not specific posts that gave you the rep or something. I can't remember it was over a year ago. :3

To be honest I wouldn't care in the slightest if you did or not. The rep system should be kept no attention, it is completely pointless :p

I'm sure there was more to it because that explanation made absolutely no sense. :p

I'm sorry xD It's like if I find a post that I got rep, an admin can tell you who gave you that rep

If you go to your profile and see "oh I got 3 rep in the last week, Mr. Admin, could you tell me which posts got me these rep?" that they cannot do. I believe. I might be wrong.

Why don't we just keep a tighter watch on spam? And any violations will lead to deductions of posts. For example, the "Thank You"s are just an extra posts for people on the Mpics fourum. Rules like each post cannot be shorter than 5 words, or must contribute in someway... Meh, my 1.3 cents

But I like the idea of deductions everyday, but the only problem would be people that take breaks. What if it was somthing like -5 posts a day, but only on days the programs or item database are used? -If that isn't too hard to track that is... Adding another currency/point system sounds a lot more complicated, and it still isn't "unspammable"

I don't see anything wrong with the new system. I will personally nominate everyone who doesn't piss me off. And it takes a lot to piss me off. So far it seems the rest of the people agree and no one's being elitist, which I'm glad to see.

It's hard to me get Advanced without paying, but i'm okay with it. Just cant interact much with you all, because my poor english do not allow.

But i think the new system is good.

They can see exactly what posts were given rep, and by who.

I doubt they'll make it work by rep. That would be really hard to moderate.. and as it is right now, barely anyone pays attention to it. It'll be hard to institute that kind of paradigm shift, I think
