Right but it's not just the neopets programs I'm referring to. I mean the overall activity, such as discussing programming topics, writing tutorials, optimizing code, and of course writing the programs themselves. Like SL said we only have the planning and production for neopets programs and even that's happening behind the scenes. And I would say the decline started about 3 years ago. I think we peaked for about 4 years in terms of activity.

So I really don't see how you could compare now to then.

I honestly don't see any difference from the amount of posts in the section from when I joined, and now :|

I don't see you trying to make any improvement; one of the first things i did when i joined neocodex was the writing of those two tutorials. Mind you they are not the best; but i at least made an attempt. What exactly have you done in the past to try and increase interest; why not hold a programming competition with neopets items as prizes or something. Its not really fair for you to complain about the inactivity when some of us have tried to improve that area; when i dont really see much of a contribution on your behalf.

Just sayin

Not true, I wrote that ruby script that downloads songs from your hypem account. I got 0 replies to the thread; that was very discouraging. Clearly there is no interest in programs that aren't related to neopets...if there was I'd be more than happy to share code and start discussions...but what's the point if no one is interested?

Maybe if it wasn't in ruby? :p

Yeah, make something with python and i can almost guarantee you that 2 of the programmers here will respond. I know some ruby; but not enough to be proficient in it.

I don't think it should have to be in a specific language to start a discussion. I mean I don't have to know how to write in Java to look at your code and give you suggestions. And besides ruby is arguably one of the easiest languages to pick up and you certainly don't have to proficient in it to know what a script does.

But anyway, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I actually have an assignment due this week that has to do with dynamic memory in C++, do you think if I asked for help anyone would join in and discuss?

Probably not, C++ is probably the language least used by any of the programmers (with an exception of Hydro I think).
