ZKK's Pet Pricing Guide for Converted Pets!

This is my guide to pricing converted Neopets. I’ve noticed a lot of mispricing by a lot of users in the trading forum, or confusion as to how to price – always refusing to give an offer. This is a step by step attempt at explaining how to price pets appropriately, and give users some knowledge. Experience in buying/selling is the easiest way to gauge prices though.

I guess this could go in the trading post, since Georgina is not always available and this could help.

Things to note first:

-The guide here mostly applies to the Neocodex Trading Post prices, other sites may deviate a little from the listed prices.

-This is an estimate obviously so please do not restrict yourself to it. Ultimately, it is what you want to price it and often there are a lot of other external circumstances involved. Pricing below or above for a pet does not make it unfair.

-This does not apply to Unconverted pets, Draiks or Krawks. It also does not take into account things like plot prizes, new color releases etc. nor RW/RNs

1. Pet Name

Pet names are one of the most important factors (duh). This one is pretty brief since most people should understand the concept. And there is a guide here anyway

-RW/RN are not taken into account for this guide. Price accordingly with your own wise judgment.

VVWN/VWN

Usually nowadays a VWN is anything pronounceable 6 letters long and pronounceable. Price adjusts depending on the quality obviously, so a 4L pronounceable (e.g. Lyff) would be higher value than a 6L. Most people expect VWN/WN when buying pets.

WN

Usually more than 6 letters, pronounceable but a bit odd for a name. I don’t know, something like: Melliose, Siciolli would be WN, but often WNs can be very close to VWNs (not that important of a distinction). What I feel is important is the difference between DN/WN, mislabeling is costly and annoying for the customer. People often confuse these two.

DN

Anything with 2 caps, or uncapped. An underscore would usually make it BN unless it is placed at the end or somewhere appropriate. 1 number at the end may be qualified as DN. A large drop in value from WN pets, and not that popular. Therefore, price much lower, expect to sell at half-price.

BN/VBN

Anything with lots of numbers, odd underscore placement is considered BN/VBN. Often I see people trying to sell these pets on the forums. Please understand that there is extremely low demand for these pets, so don’t even think about pricing high. The only way you can attract customers is if you offer special prices for: VBN/BN Avatar pets (Pea, Coconut, FB), Unconverted, Upper Tier colors or Draiks/Krawks.

I’d say halve the price for BN Upper tier pets (Pirate, Royal, Zombie) at least BUT much more for lower tier (mutant, disco) 10-20k range IF you even want a chance of selling. If you picked up an unclothed + VBN via pound then expect nothing.

2. Pet Colors (In Alphabetical Order) Use Ctrl+F

The following estimated pricing is as follows (some may be a bit off so do not rage). ALSO CHECK THE NEXT FEW STEPS (SPECIES + BD) for more accurate pricing. Again, this is just a base price guide, there are a lot of factors that go on in pricing. If you go over the upper limit though, you better have a good reason to. You may have to go below the lower limit usually in order to try and get it sold.

Format: WN (Less Popular Species) Pet – VWN (More Popular Species) Pet

OR: Lower Priced/Quicksale– Higher Priced/Expensive (usually due to name or popularity of the pet)

8-bit: 2 mil (not sure)

Alien (Aisha): 900k – 2 mil

Apple (+ many other fruits/veg NOT PEA): 300k – 800k

Baby: 150k – 400k

Camo: 0-100k [low demand]

Checkered: 0-100k [low demand]

Chocolate: 300k – 650k

Custard: 150k-250k

Darigan: 250k – 700k

Disco: 100-200k [low demand]

Desert: 250k – 700k

Faerie: 250k – 700k

Fire: 100-250k [low demand]

Garlic: 400k – 800k

Gold: 100-200k [low demand]

Grey: 200k-600k

Halloween: 150k-600k

Ice: 150k-450k (Bori: 600k – 1.4 mil)

Island: 150k-600k

Jelly: 100k – 300k [low demand]

Maraquan: 300k – 800k

Magma: 50k-200k (Magma Customs are usually 0-100k)

Mallow: 200-600k (not sure)

Pea: 1 – 3 mil (depends on name)

Pink: 100k – 300k

Pirate: 600k – 1.6 mil

Spotted: 100-350k [low demand]

Snot: 100k-200k [low demand]

Snow: 50k-150k

Strawberry: 100-200k [low demand]

Rainbow: 50k-150k

Relic: 500k – 900k [low demand at this price though, unpopular upper tier color]

Robot: 350k – 800k

Royal: 500k – 1 mil

Silver: 100-200k [low demand]

Skunk: 150k - 500k [low demand[

Tyrannian: 100k-200k [low demand, PB price fallen]

White: 200-500k

Woodland: 500k - 1 mil

Zombie: 300k-800k

NOTE: Don’t bother selling unless special case (Avatar petpet, Amazing Name, LE, BD pet): Christmas, Speckled, Cloud, Electric, Glowing, Biscuit, Invisible, Starry, etc.

[low demand] = means that there tends to be more people selling these pets than the number of people willing to buy them at the current price. Therefore you may need to lower price.

Clothed vs Unclothed: If it’s a pet that’s supposed to have clothes but it DOESN’T, it should be valued the same as if it has a VBN (Check above). Don’t price high, it may even be worthless

3. Species

Species does matter somewhat, but this is very very general though, it obviously depends on how the pet looks with the color. Use your own judgment. I’d say for upper tier colors like Pirate, Robot, Royalboy it doesn’t matter as much as prices are inelastic, so you won’t have to reduce the price much. However, for colors like Darigan, Shadow etc. you may have to reduce if they are a less popular species.

Extra: Refer to THIS to help. The ones listed here can be priced more expensive if you wish.

Less Popular:

This may mean you might have to reduce price as they are generally regarded as uglier. Price towards the lower band. List is open to dispute:

http://www.neopets.c...opneopets.phtml

The bottom half which would be something like: Nimmo, Techo, Buzz, Tuskaninny, Ruki, Ogrin, Moehog, Lenny, Gnorbu, Kiko, Koi.

More Popular:

You may be able to sell these easier, and thus you could price higher potentially. Price towards the upper band. But generally the prices above are already good, and it just means that you should be able to sell them easier.

http://www.neopets.c...opneopets.phtml

Upper half, which would be: Kacheek, Xweetox, Usul etc.

Limited Edition: Chomby, Hissi, Poogle, Jetsam, Tonu

Basics:

0-4 months after release day (lots available): 0-50k

Normally: 100-200k

However, many VWN Jetsams can be found in the Pound sometimes, so be aware of that.

Colored:

Hissi, Chomby, Poogle, Jetsam: They usually sell for the upper portion/limit of the listed prices, but for some cases it wouldn’t be inappropriate to add +100-200k POSSIBLY, such as for Robot & Plushie.

4. Battledome Pets

I’m not that great with this sort of pricing, and usually HSD becomes more important than color when it’s 250+ HSD trainable, but let’s assume HSD is some sort of add-on to the value. Zapped pets tend to have decent untrainable stats, but they usually don’t make an impact on price.

HSD = HP + Strength + Defense. Movement is negligible and useless

Trainable = HP is approximately 3x the Level. No other stat is more than double the level.

Only applies for VWN/WN:

50-100 HSD Trainable/Untrainable: Not much impact on price

100-200 HSD Trainable/Untrainable: + 150k/0-100k

200 – 250 HSD Trainable/Untrainable: + 250k-300k/100-150k

300+ HSD pets Trainable/Untrainable = The total price should be 1.5 mil + for trainable, 1 mil+ for untrainable

I can't price 250+ accurately as there are too many complexities and variation involved as to stat distribution, the pet itself etc.

BN/VBN:

Their only function would be to get Defender of Neopia Trophies + easy BD avatars.
HSD should be around: 200-300
Price: 150-300k

5. Avatar Pets + Petpets

Often in higher demand especially for WN/VWN, also known as ETS pets.

Pets:

Orange Grundo 200-400k

Mummy Ruki: 400k – 700k

Halloween Lupe: 400k – 700k

Fire Blum w/ fireball attached: 400k-800k

Island Quiggle: 400k – 800k

Coconut Jubjub: 1mil – 2mil

Pea Chia: 1.5 mil-3 mil

Petpets (assumed to be ZAPPED):

+ Slorg, Quad, Gruelsen, Snicklebeast, Huggy: + 50-150k

+ Mazzew: +100-200k

+ Mootix: +500k

+ Meowclops: +500k

+ Snowbunny: +300k

6. If you can't sell the pet

-Lower your prices. You’ll rarely get your “ideal price” unless it’s a popular pet

-Sell them elsewhere (try other sites)

-USE THE NEOBOARD and trade for a more popular pet. This is kind of difficult and annoying at times, but it can work to your advantage.

-Wait it out, sooner or later someone should buy them if the prices are appropriate.

7. Examples using this guide

-- WN Grey Cybunny w/ 150 HSD trainable

200-600k approximation, since it is a Well named LE, I’ll estimate 550k. With 150 HSD, I’ll add around 150k which totals at 700k. However, this is an ideal price and I know that in reality I usually never get the ideal price. Since I want NP asap, and I don’t want to have to keep Bumping my post, I’ll price it at: 600k and reduce it slowly in the future if no one wants to buy it.

--VWN 3L Pronounceable Plushie Kacheek

Name is excellent, and adds value. Guide says 600k – 2 mil, but I love this pet + name and think it’s worth more. Plushie Kacheeks are also very popular. Priced at 2.5 mil

-Basic VWN Aisha w/ Aged Snowbunny

It’s VWN so it can be zapped into something more appealing. Aged snowbunny would mean a minimum of at least 300k. Therefore I set prices at 500k.

-DN Uncapped 6L Ice Bori

Rare pet, but DN. Guide says 600k-1.5 mil. Priced at 600k because it’s still a rare pet and quite popular.

--BN Disco Kacheek, Unclothed (missing glasses)

I am desperate for NP but I realize that this is a useless effort. I understand that if I turn on Abrosia and run it for 15 minutes, I will most likely make double of what I would sell this pet for. I pound this pet and turn Auto Adopter on, making sure to tick the box that says “Well Named Pets Only”

CLOSING COMMENTS:

-Do not go near/over the Paint Brush Color UNLESS the name makes it way more valuable. It makes no sense how some people price alright WN pets at a price close to buying a Paint Brush and just painting a better pet yourself.

-Hopefully this resolves a lot of the “I have no idea how to price…” or “Just offer, Idk” that happens in the trading post.

-Again, these are all estimates. Please don’t be affected by anchoring bias when looking at these numbers to price.

Yeah I'm missing some because I'm not that sure about the price, or I never see them sell. Added, but what price do you suggest?

Awesome, thanks +1rep

only suggestion would be maybe to elaborate on the stats? Lots of people have stats up to 700+ HSD which are definitely worth a lot more than a pet with 150... :p

You're also missing an MSP Poogle :o They trade for low end UCs, Draiks and Krawks, if this helps your pricing.
