Who do you guys think? I'm just curious to see who people say. I'm not going to debate it (because people get all mad and it's a waste of time) but you guys might so I made the thread here.

To me it's Lil Wayne, easy, no one's even close. Greatest lyricist, insane flow, craziest swag.

Black People will say Lil Wayne/Tupac.

    There you go ;)

    B.o.B?
    <_<

He has been in the game for like a year. Half the songs he done is pop (Pricetag and Magic).

I don't really see how he beats Tupac, 50 Cent, etc....

I'm partial to Nas: the lyrics and flow are both excellent. He's just got so many great songs that I doubt anyone will surpass him on my list. Eminem and Kanye are up there as well, along with Lupe Fiasco and, of course, Jay-Z.

Eminem is my favorite, followed by Snoop Doggy Dog. But I can't really say who's the BEST, even as someone who comes from an extensive musical background. I frankly hate rap. xD

It seems that people who "don't really like rap" just choose Eminem.

Probably because that's the only rapper they know.

I'm not a huge fan of rap, but that doesn't mean people have to necessarily be ignorant. Ignorance =/= not liking something. ;)

For example, I love Nicki Minaj and I think she's the best female rapper (at least she's the most widely known). Tupac was amazing in his time, too. Kanye...ehhh, he's a jackass, but his songs are pretty good. Jay-Z is also great.

This choice is so easy for me. Z-Ro. (Followed by Jay-Z. :p)

I used to dig Wayne, but all of his tracks are about the same thing. (Can pretty much be simplified to one of his tracks, "Pussy, Money, Weed." You take those three things and add in how fucking awesome he is and you have heard the entirety of the message behind his lyrics. Z-Ro is so underrated... Z-Ro has great flow and a great vernacular with truly sick beats. More importantly, his raps actually have a message to send about society and urban life. Something that I just don't get out of Lil Wayne. (Don't get me wrong... I like Lil Wayne... but he just doesn't have the message behind his music so I don't really think he's all that great. Art is only as good as the message it is attempting to send.)

Jay-Z is a close second for obvious reasons... I love Jay-Z. I always thought he was the best rapper alive and I still bump his shit a lot of the time when I'm feeling some rap music. I think I also like his music for the same reason I like Z-Ro. (Sick beats + a solid message.)

So there are my top two... an East Coast rapper a rapper from the south. (Texas... represent. :p)

P.s. Fuck west coast rap. It suuuuucks. (Snoop Dogg is the exception to that rule. :p)

P.p.s. I really don't listen to a whole lot of rap anymore... In fact, my Itunes/Iphone has not changed playlists in probably over a year. (Discography of the Grateful Dead, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, and a little bit of Tool, The Beatles, The Pixies, and Blue Oyster Cult. :p)

The only talent I see that Lil Wayne has is being able to have his entire ass hang out the back of his saggin' pants without them falling to his ankles. That takes skill, my friends. Oh yeah and he's talented at getting shit tattooed all over himself. Other than that. Meh.
