I have that keyboard, and ignoring the fact I broke it by spilling alcohol all over it and continuing to use it, I'd be careful about buying it. The 5 function keys, for me personally, were in the location where I'd expect to hit the ctrl and shift keys meaning I'd always press those instead. You'll get used to it eventually, that is if it's even a problem for you, but just be aware of that before buying it.

Also, do you really need a 2600k? Is there a particular reason you don't want the 2500k? Unless you have a specific need for hyper-threading there's really no point spending the extra. I haven't looked in a while, but I think Ivy Bridge is due soon too.

I dont like Intel/Nivida. If you went amd/ati you could of got a better spec system for less. Especially the black edition amd cpus are insane for unlock and overclocking. Plus the new amd chip is out. That's just my opinion.

I'll give it a 8/10 you could tweek some stuff. I'm not familiar with american prices.

  • Case: Minus the window, that's the same case I have. Of course I approve.
  • MB: Not fastest PCIE slots, but your vid card is only 2.0 anyway.
  • Proc: *thumbs up*
  • Video: Uuuuughghhhh boo :( Well you can't be perfect I guess. Could get a Sapphire card for less. Don't forget to get a mini HDMI to HDMI cable :p
  • SSD: <3 <3 <3
  • Memory: WTF is this? You saved $20 I guess but I have never heard of this brand (and it's ugly).
  • KB/Mouse: Don't care
  • Monitor: You already know I love your monitor.
  • HDD: Don't care
  • DVD: Y no Blu-Ray?
  • Power load is good, thank you for not skimping on the power supply.

7/10 for me, I would change the video card and memory, and add Blu-Ray.

Edit: Updated to include bullet points. :p

I'd look at getting a cheaper card if you don't intend to do much high end gaming on it. That said, I've no clue how long Diablo will be delayed so when it releases you might need that extra power.

You can always change to a more expensive one if it changes. But a 560 GTX for mostly video is a bit overkill.

That processor is also (severely) overkill if you're not intending to do a lot of actual work on your machine, or expecting to run the latest games with maximum aethetic settings.

I'd maybe give it a 5.5/10. Bumping it up to a 7/10 if you do plan to do a lot of gaming on it. (that processor is still overkill)

Team Elite looks like mid-range RAM. They don't seem to be budget chips as I can't find much in the way of negative reviews for them. I personally use Transcend, which is largely unheard of here in NZ. Despite the lack of reputation I'm glad I picked them, works well and they were the cheapest without getting generic.

Unless you're planning on maxing out crysis while encoding some video, bump the processor down to an i5 2500k with a hyper 212 cooler and overclock it a bit
Power supply can be brought down to about 650W since you aren't using a dual video card setup
other than that, looks somewhat decent.
May want to rethink your hard drive though, considering that caviar black is

DEACTIVATED. This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked.

The caviar is just a secondary drive that he's throwing in because he already owns it. The SSD is the drive he is purchasing.

True SSD is a nice part of any PC build just really depends on how tight his budget is. I'll take a slow booting computer that handle better graphical displays but again he isn't going to be gaming all the time like others >.<

No I suppose not but I couldn't live with myself if I got 2nd best, affordability-wise. I know there are better processors out there but they are $1k+.

I'll give it a 8/10 you could tweek some stuff.

What would you tweak if the budget was suddenly increased by $200?

  • I actually wanted this case http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811129091 but it was the last thing I bought and I was way overbudget at this point. I am drawn to bright lights.
  • I don't know too much about mobos so I grabbed the one compatible with the processor and had 2x 2.0 16x SATA express.
  • Yeah.
  • I'm not much of a gamer so I slacked a bit in this area. With the current build I'm planning to do a SLI set-up at some point.
  • Love you too.
  • But look the ram is covered in armour plating!
  • You should. Go Razer or go home.
  • Go samsung or go home.
  • There is a $50 500GB I'm looking to get as soon as my newegg sub goes through so I can use the discount code. If anyone is interested, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822145299 coupon code: EMCJJHE47. You need to be subscribed to their newsletter.
  • No Blu Ray because I prefer downloading 1080p rips and storing them rather than paying for disks to take up space.

No, Razer owns the gaming world, better get acclimated to it.

Team Elite looks like mid-range RAM. They don't seem to be budget chips as I can't find much in the way of negative reviews for them. Yeah I didn't see any bad reviews either. *crosses fingers*

But the SSD is the best part! I see we all have polarizing opinions on the graphics card. I really want to try out mechanical keyboards.

your rushing the computer build. ive seen better specs for less, granted they come and go. just have to wait i guess

I really don't want to chance that some of the parts arrive DOA so I'm getting it all at once. I'm not a wait for deals kind of guy but luckily Black Friday The Event came right around the corner as I was looking for a new pc.

SSD is the last thing he wants to drop from this build imo.

That's right. SSDs are like the ____ of computer building!

True SSD is a nice part of any PC build just really depends on how tight his budget is. I'll take a slow booting computer that handle better graphical displays but again he isn't going to be gaming all the time like others >.<

It's more than I wanted to spend but I'm hoping this will last me until 2015.

Is it easy to build your own computer from parts?

No.

Better deals on other SSD's for half that price

http://slickdeals.net/

type ssd on top rightcornerthen click frontpage.

I had that deal in my cart and when I woke up the next day it was sold out. The one I listed is about $10 more for the exact same specs without the free Battlefield 3 game. The price you listed is including the $120 rebate, which also comes with the one I bought so essentially it's the same thing. I just don't hold my breath when it comes to rebates so I don't include them in my buying decisions.

Fail for spending THAT much on a Keyboard :)

You chose GTX 560, correct?

I'm currently gaming fine on my GTX 260 816MB. And compared to the 5XX/6XXX range, it's pretty crappy. If you only expect to be gaming with Diablo II, putting a dedicated GPU in is probably going to be a waste of texture fill. Home theatre really doesn't require a powerful card, usually anything with a decent amount of video memory will run HD content fine. Hell, my GTX 260 runs two 1080p monitors side by side fine. I usually have to turn off any AA if I want to run the second monitor on top of a 3D game, but I also have less video memory than you will.

I would probably go for a GTX 460 over the GTX 560.

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130571

If you plan on upgrading later, which is doable since you've got a fairly strong power supply, you can. And there will likely be a couple more tiers of graphics cards released by the time you feel the need, which will give you a bigger bang for your buck.

That said, I would also scratch the SSD and get a lower end quad core processor. an I7 is something I would get for professional computing jobs like 3D rendering and modeling, or doing a lot of file compression and decompression. Most things requiring CPU power these days support multi-threading, so just about any quad core is going to be adequate. I've never used a SSD, but I also value space far more than slightly quicker access time.

If you're interested, this is the CPU I would use.

We have the same RAM and processor! The 3.4 GHz quad core sandy bridges is NICE! I have heard that the Ivy Bridges processors should be coming out in a few months, though, and I've heard really great things about them! The SSD is the one thing about my PC that I would change if I had to buy it over again....

Everything else looks good to me, really... Only change I would make to your build would be to swap out your video card with what I have. The AMD Radeon HD 6970 2GB card.... it's spectacular for watching 1080P videos and for playing games.

I LOVE my machine... it's definitely the best I've ever used... So I would say 9/10 with 10/10 with the Radeon card. That may be unnecessary to you.... but I find it invaluable...

Anyways, enough rambling. :p

You have inspired me, sir. My next machine shall be.... a HACKINTOSH!

From what i know the Ivy Bridges are going be more for laptops since they have the improved Integrated Graphics. If you are going to wait for the next model in CPU's then for a desktop you would be better off to get the Sandy Bridge E's that are coming out so wont be paying for a CPU that has a piece you will never use.
