It's interesting that all this drama could have been avoided by one sentence:

"Sorry, I can no longer afford to volunteer my time for free and am therefore unable to continue programming for Neocodex."

No wai, not enough attention comes with that sentence.

How would that have resolved any drama at all?

I love it when people have no clue at all why I asked them to remove my code, and just assume I'm doing it for certain reasons.

I meant instead of going on strike in the first place it would have been more mature to just resign the voluntary position which you held. I wasn't referring to your decision to remove your code at all, that's your prerogative as all programmers at Neocodex retain ownership of their software.

I did not want to resign. I wanted to keep working for codex. Thus I simply stopped working to allow them to decide if they want to keep me or not. After they made the decision to completely remove me from the team, that is when it was time to decide if my programs should remain or not. And as such, I once again, gave them another chance to keep the programs, and they still refused. That's where I stand.

See, posts like this is exactly why you and the other ungrateful man-children here are turning this quiet little retirement into a shitfest. I may not like his decision but that does not invalidate his years of service. Instead of vilifying him and circlejerk repping each other why don't you thank him for his work and let that be the end of that? My kad trophy hasn't disappeared just because he removed his kad feeder. You've used his programs for years, what you've gained hasn't changed. Instead of sending him off with some respect the majority of you that have spoken up decided to smear his reputation as much as possible. I would say your checklist fits all of you better than it does him.

Agreed. Thank you for writing this. This is the position of the administration as well. There is no doubt that iargue, and all of the contributors, really, has made great contributions to Neocodex. Neocodex wouldn't be what it is without him. However, we've decided to part ways due to differences that we were unable to resolve and we should let it be at that.

It's a private matter between iargue and the administration, and I would appreciate everyone respecting that privacy.

Publicly, iargue's programs are being removed from the program manager. We'll be working on recreating them so you guys can use them again :). Please give us some time to do this. Until then, I apologize for any inconvenience our dispute may have caused you.

I was more than happy to send him off with just well wishes. But when he pulled the programs off even I was shocked because I thought he was more gracious too. I don't even use the programs anymore since I quit like a year ago. He kept saying how important the programs were to the site, if he believed that him pulling as many programs as he could was basically him trying to watch it burn as much as he could. And to me that's appalling. Yes I'm acting like a child, no its probably not fully justified, but at this point I really don't care anymore.

I don't quite understand how this all came out, but I for one, am grateful for all that iargue has contributed. He's devoted hundreds (maybe close to a thousand) hours of his own time in helping the community thrive and stick out from the others. If the artist doesn't want to donate any more of his/her creations to charity anymore, then that is their choice. The community should not look down on him for his actions.

I never had any plans to remove my code. When I first asked to be included, they said "We would rather compensate you" when I asked for compensation, they said "Wait until others have been compensated". So at that point, I asked myself what the fuck was I doing? No matter what I was asking for, I was being told no. And since I was being told no. There wasn't really any reason to open up Vim and start coding again. So I let them know that if they wouldn't uphold their word, I would be programming anymore. Good. Done. Everything settled. Programs remain, I keep my rank. I'm just on a break for a while and we see how things go. They then decided they didn't want that, and so they removed my privileges and shoved me into a rank with a bunch of people who haven't even done a 5th of what I've done. Then when I tried to talk to them about it. They litterally didn't care about me at all. We are talking about being that I've worked with for two years. I've helped shadow and noit out with personal problems hundreds of times. We've talked for hours straight, ate pizza together, watched movies together. I thought we had real friendship going on. And then they just treated me like I was nothing. Nada. Zilch. And I'm sorry, but I'm done feeling like that. I've already explained my past on this situation, and been called a whiny bitch for it. Whatever. I'm not going to let things turn out how they had before. Show some actual appreciation for my work, and its all yourself. Don't give a fuck? Then you get nothing. Simple as that.

I never once wanted to remove my programs. I never intended to remove them. And I certainly wouldn't have removed them if they had simply refused to compensate me. The ask for compensation was for future programming. If they compensated me, I would have kept releasing new programs (Multi-account logins was done....) but they said no, and I said fine. Then they chose to reduce what I had. The Rank that I was given was the one form of recognition that I had for my extreme dedication, once that was gone, there wasn't really anything else going on. Hell, they didn't even ask me if I wanted to remain a programmer without compensation, or be removed. They just fucking removed me. The amount of discussion they have given me, was basically none. Hydrogen wont even bother to talk to me now.

So why should I continue to let them use my programs for years, and make money off of it, if they wont even give me the time of day? How is this me being a bitch, or anything else? I'm not going to let them use my hard work, things where I spent hours of my time, forgot to sleep sometimes, to produce, when they treat me like I was just a normal regular member, and a nobody in their eyes.

More then that, there was a few people asking for me to be banned, simply because I wasn't actively programming anymore. How kind. I should let them use my hard work while they insult me and disrepect me. Because that's what I'm supposed to do. Let people walk all over me. NO. I'm fucking done with that.
