There have been many new contests being created by members in the General and Neopets areas as of recently. This has led the staff to propose an amendment to the rules. I'm not saying that any of our members are scammers, but I'd really rather not take the chance. It looks better for us if no one complains about being scammed by a member of Neocodex. I'm sorry for this inconvenience, but it is necessary to help protect our members. The final wording of the rule is:

Please do not create contests of your own on Neocodex.
Contests are only endorsed on Neocodex if they are made by Neocodex staff. This means that if you are not a moderator, super moderator, administrator or do not have written permission from the staff to conduct a contest, you may not offer a prize of any sort to members for doing any kind of activity. This includes, but is not li'mited to, raffles, giveaways, scavenger hunts, etc. You may, however, seek endorsement for any of such contests through a staff member, in which case such contests shall be supervised or directly conducted by Neocodex staff members instead, should that contest be approved by the staff.

The staff has also decided to remove all reasons for why we do things the way we do from the rules page and will add to the bottom of the rules page:

Reasons for any of these rules can be requested by personal messaging a staff member.

what about if someone wants to givaway a items of neopets so they give it to a staff member and then the staff member posts the givaway or just approves it for them or does the person get to keep the item and post it then staff approve it?

by the way not only mods, smods, admins are staff but NU owners and codex editors :p

Lol I think staff can host contest without aproval of other staff right now but I am not certain on this! Wouldn't make toomuch sense either, unless of course other staff could remove the contest...

This seems a good idea, I'mproves the safety of the board and contests haven't been made a complete no-no. So everyone should be happy.

I presume all my contests organised as Priv Leader are excluded from this rule yes?

View Post

Doubt it; I got a OK from ShadowLink64 to have a contest called Name That Tune where I would give 10-30k to the winner, but I guess that ain't going to happen.

CENSOREDing bogus rules.

Or maybe Matt just didn't realise you had the go ahead when he closed the topic...Did you tell hi'm?

View Post

No, but I asked for a good valid reason why he did it and he just copied and pasted the rule....

Thats no good.  :angry2:

(I just hate when I try to do something nice and good and I always get bullshitted)

That was a little out of order, Matt didn't even investigate.
If someone re-opens it..you can carry on doing your contest, as long as you do have authorization from sl64.

EDIT: About hi'm copying and pasting the rule..thats just the way he is..stubborn (no offense ^_^ )
