Hey so since advanced voting doesn't happen at set intervals (fucking bring back private!) can we get some sort of notice when a new vote is on? Perhaps similar to how the latest Announcement thread is at the head of the board index? Or a popup or something? I never use view active content (stupid, stupid IPB, getting rid of view new posts) and even if I did I probably wouldn't notice a thread with just some user's name, but I'd like to be able to at least vote when (infrequent though it is) new polls go up. :(

As a way of saying thanks for reading, kittehs!

I think Active Content is everything which has been active in the last 24 hours while New Content is stuff that has happened since your last visit. I prefer New Content because I don't really want to see stuff which I've already read but there's not really much difference between them.

Because iargue was the brains of this website, and without him, updates, fixes or new programs are not possible and the site can only run in an as is with emergency patches (maintenance) mode.

I thought this was common knowledge...

How would I ever figure that out? Nothing else on this site changes function when click'd n' held. Although now that I know this, I might use it again. Nevertheless, I still think voting could use an announce line like site news.

I want you to get warned for this. Completely off topic, non sequitur. Sometimes I wish ex-mods could keep basic moderation powers.

It's a custom modification, we like to hide things like that around here so when people figure it out they get a nice surprise and think they're smarter than they actually are. Alternatively, if people can't figure it out and we have to tell them about it they become available for public ridicule. Either way it's a win-win situation for us (mainly me).

If that were the case you probably wouldn't be able to warn him because you'd both have the same level of basic moderation powers and I'm not sure if mods can warn mods. :p

I was a supermod/globalmod at one point, and to the best of my knowledge argue wasn't. Then again, I've never been clear on exactly what capacity programmers were given to moderate. Do we even have standalone moderators anymore? Besides boggart of course...

    Very punny...

Edit: Looked around, toxic snipe is a mod as well. Maybe I just don't cross paths with him, but I don't see him very much. Then again, I don't know how much moderating is actually done nowadays. Besides banning idiots, that is.

Programmers basically have super mod powers, same as Boggart and ToxicS currently do.

Are you retarded, or just trying to be a dick? I happen to be completely on topic with it. Someone is asking for changes to be made to the site, and its supposed to be in maintenence mode. Meaning that they will fix problems with programs, but that's it. They don't have the time to commit to creating a mod to alert you of new topic (Especially when active content already exists)

We always have things in the pipeline, there are new programs currently being developed and tested and there's been a few recent changes to the Item Database which have been implemented in the last week. Just because you don't see things happening doesn't mean that they aren't happening.

    I do see things happening.

I happen to have been there months ago when that fix was first worked on, and was just never fully implemented.

And the changes to the programs are there as part of maintenance mode. They are not new programs, they are replacements.

It might be possible to have a hook to make it send a PM instead of an email, I've never looked into the Watch Forum/Topic bit though so I have no idea how it works.

Actually, perhaps you could use this:

They are new programs because they are being developed from scratch. In addition to those there are some other things being worked on which you aren't party to.
