So as some may know, I left my iPhone for the Galaxy Nexus and have been enjoying NFC. (Near field communications)
I enjoyed buying a soda at work by swiping my phone by the machine using google wallet. It was AWESOME! I'm considering buying a bunch of NFC tags and sticking them around my house or car or work to make my phone do stuff... Or maybe print some business cards with NFC capabilities... I'm also looking for some software/app that will work to read the data on my RFID badge and show me the data so that I can replicate it on my phone using NFC.
So does anyone around hear have experience with NFC? Anyone knowledgeable on the topic? I'd LOVE some information!

"Love has to spring spontaneously from within: and it is in no way amenable to any form of inner or outer force. love and coercion can never go together; but though love cannot be forced on anyone, it can be awakened in him through love itself. love is essentially self-communicative. those who do not have it, catch it from those who have it. true love is unconquerable and irresistible; and it goes on gathering power and spreading itself until eventually it transforms everyone whom it touches."

I know what it is and I know that it's pretty much the biggest step to the future going on right now.

Technology, Sounds like devil's work going on here. NFC is the technology behind those fly-by things on toll booths right?
Not to be seen, but sadly still heard.

Wow this sounds pretty epic! I have no experience with this, does it only work for purchasing stuff or can you use the tags to record other information? I'm assuming the main perk of the technology is bypassing the whole credit card thing when buying stuff but is it really that commonplace that its worth it?? I haven't seen any NFC capable businesses (unless I'm just oblivious)

You can program tags to do whatever... Like have one in your car that you swipe it by and it might do something like "Turn Bluetooth on" + "Turn Wi-fi Off" + "launch application "Car Mode"" + "Play music on shuffle".
As to places you can pay with NFC.... idk. I know McDonalds does it... Starbucks... Most pizza joints... American Eagle, Macy's, etc. It's where you normally slide your credit card, if it has what looks like a sideways wi-fi symbol in green it usually means NFC capable. It's starting to pick up in popularity (though only few phones have NFC chips embedded...)
Some future applications might be like business cards that make your phone auto add the contact to your contact list... or at diners where you can swipe it by the tag and it will "check you in" using foursquare or FB or w/e. (I'm not too interested in this aspect... but meh...)
But yeah... All I've done so far is the paying for a soda at the vending machine...
I know that with the android beam feature on my phone I can use NFC to share screenshots, applications, ringtones, or songs just by pressing them together.... Just curious if anyone here is familiar with NFC or has any advice for me as I'd like to explore this further!
