Do you think D3 will be the roaring success that D2 was?

i think it'll go the way of SC2 - selling some copies but in terms of competitiveness and value people will still prefer BW

This is all assuming it ever actually gets released, but I think itll be a decent success. I dont see it being as big as D2 but I think it should have a better showing than starcraft 2

If they focus on gameplay this time instead of insanely OP graphics as with SC2, they might have another hit. 22 game updates later, SC2 still isn't balanced sufficiently. Terran is OP.

Diablo 2 was one of my favorite games of all time. D3 can't be half bad if it's anything like it. (IMO)

I haven't looked into the details, so I couldn't say whether I expect it to be as wildly popular as D2, but given the explosion of games studios and developers, I can't see it capturing the market share that D2 had back in the day. Too many competitors.

I'm quite excited on how Diablo 3 will turn out. Quite sure Blizzard knows more than 10 years are weighing in on this so they probably won't disappoint. Starcraft 2 was alright I suppose.

As long as the game doesn't get super easy, I'm happy. I like the difficulty level of D2 right where it is, but it's enormously easy compared to D1 (which was just mean).

It's an (OPTIONAL) Auction House that allows you to use real currency to buy items.

    That's about it.

I LOVED Diablo 2. I played it for years. I hope 3 is as successful, it's only been in development for like 8 years.

If the final release is anything like the beta, then I'm okay with it. Unfortunately, I still enjoy D2 a LOT more. I know with only a part of chapter 1 to play through is a piss poor example to use, but even the flow of the game just don't feel the same to me. I've ran through like 12-13 times and its random generator, while impressive, is nothing compared to how D2's was.

Edit: Because, it's and its are not interchangeable.

Everyone will buy it, including the latest crop of 11 year old noobs.

Will everyone like it? I'm worried that I might not, because I live in the past so much. Every time I pick up a recently released FF game, I rage. (Where's my intricate storyline, character customization, and multidimensional gameplay!?!?) I also kinda loathe the premium features on general principle, since it makes two tiers of players, the ones who will fork out the dough for the best equipment, and the ones who have to pay their bills. (I'm the latter, of course) I have no idea what might piss me off about D3, but if that magic's not there, i'll notice.

Unfortunately it looked like the maps for the dungeons weren't very random like in Diablo 2, so there's not a lot of exploration every time you replay areas.

Hopefully they change that from the Beta.

I just downloaded the Beta and have just started playing it.

Its smooth, and I like the lore additions. But I can't see anything hooking me to it yet (We will see at a big boss fight).

Right now I'm just running around blasting people with my op spells and not taking any damage (kiting ftw). Seems too easy, but that can easily change.

I worry about that as well, last month i wanted to play Diablo 2 on battlenet, and hit level 80 within a week, that was so annoying.. I hope there will be a party cap or something like that, so you wont get boosted easily by other higher levels. Also what will be the max level on Diablo 3?

Just beat the Skeleton King, which is the first major boss fight... Idk.

They opened up the Blacksmith system, which is a pretty freaking amazing system and does wonders.

Game is too easy though. I'm a wizard, and I just stood next to the boss and attacked until it died. No worries or dangers.

Well, ofc killing mobs werent the hardest part, but leveling. As long as leveling is hard, i enjoy playing but like i mentioned on my previous post, within a couple of days, i dont wanna level up 50+ -.-" Seriously i want a level cap to the parties, and experience should split and decrased a lot when you are in a party. Boosting kills the fun of the game, and i dont want to play regular for hours, while others get boosted. I want to be sure of this before buying and starting to play the game.

I think D3 will be as big as 2 was. While it's frustrating that blizzard keeps pushing the release date back, I know it's because they will only release a perfectly polished title. The fact that the MMO (and online gaming) market means there's more potential players, and Diablo III isn't exactly going to be a small time release. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if occasional gamers who played D2 pick it up also.

Got an email from neo for one of my alts that I created years ago and found it still worked. I started playing again and decided to see if this forum was still around.

Well i played the beta and I think d3 will be successful like D2 was for a couple of reasons.

1). The new crafting system (the one in D2 was pretty bad)
2). The auction house/ the real money auction house = goodbye d2jsp lolol
3). The art direction will give the game longevity

However i hope that they give us actual chat channels like in d2, and clan support like in warcraft 3... As well as the ability to host and name the games we are playing in.

When i was playing the d3 beta ( i havn't logged in for a while), we weren't allowed to host and join games in the same we we did in D2. There was just a create game button and auto join game button. I really hope they change this because otherwise the game's community will suffer like in starcraft 2.

Honestly this is the reason why i think Starcraft's custom game scene is so horrible because a lot of the interesting games are like on page 50-100 of the list, and you can't actually host your own games or bump interesting games to the top of the list so in the end no one ever joins any games except for like nexus wars or something like that....
