Well the game itself is pretty broad; some people like customizing their pets, others like battledoming, etc.
Here are a few guides:
Newbie's Guide to Neopets
New to Neopets
A Guide to Neopia
I'm not sure if they'd help you and/or are updated though cx ~

How can I tell how old an account is? I bought an account and the pet saids its like 2,000 days old... Does that mean that the account has been open for over 2,000 days old?

The pet has been in existence for the 'age', but they can be adopted from the pound or transferred. The account age is displayed on the user lookup. (click on your account name in the upper right corner)

&On the account age question, there's an age shield on your account userlookup that says how old an account is and to the left of the shield it states when the account was created ("started playing")
Edit: Darn it, why am I always beat to everything cX ~?

Six year old account. So basically I was told a method to make money with the program here and with Neo Pets. I was just wanting to test the method before, but I can't access the settings. I wanted to make sure it worked before I paid for subscriber. Can anyone confirm that you can make money through the program? And how much?

And it depends on what program you use, if you're using Abrosia, than it all depends on what shops you visit, how long you run it, and how much luck you have to actually buy anything at all.

haha.
it's like a hobby within a hobby (hobbyception)
you can raise pets, get rare, expensive, pets, trade them around for pets you love.
you can let these pets battle against CPU or other pets
- to start battling, you have to earn some money - "neopoints"
(you can do this
you can earn NP by playing games, if you like games
- there's flash based, single player games
- there are also 2p games, Keyquest and habitarium
some people collect items in neopets. there's a lot to collect:
- avatars; you get these avatars, or little "badges" by going around the site and completing various tasks. some, you can get them just by going to a page. others require items, or battledome wins, or neopoints, or interacting with your pet, winning a game, getting a lucky draw in a gambling game, etc.
- pets: some people collect pets (like me lol) you can do this by finding one pet, painting it, trading it around for better pets.
- trophies: you generally get trophies from winning games
- stamps and cards, etc: just like in real life, you can collect items like stamps and cards, which you can put in your gallery. as well, you can collect anything you want (yellow items, cheese items, books, bugs, marshmallows, lint, etc) and put it in your item gallery.
that's just the beginning of it, ergh

Also, don't run it 24/7, it's suspicious and will get your account frozen.

there's a "scheduler" for Abrosia that allows you to set when it autobuys for you. you can leave your computer and abrosia on running, and it'll automatically start or stop.
