POPULAR POST!

I feel that this is warranted. If it belongs somewhere else please feel free to move it.

Where to Request Price Checks, and Why
Every day, without fail, someone asks for a price check on an account, an item or a pet in their status. This is detrimental to the forum and is unfair to you (the poster).

Statuses disappear from the front page in a matter of hours. Why does this matter? Because:
A) Someone who knows the answers you seek may not be able to see your post before it disappears ← This is how it is unfair to you
B) Statuses are not searchable ← This is how it is detrimental to the forum

Why is this unfair to you?
Because your status may not be seen by someone who has the answers that you seek, you may be left just as clueless as you were before. Or worse! Someone who thinks they know could give you a bad price - too high or too low. Then, the status could disappear before someone who knows better has a chance to see it and correct the mistake - thus leaving you with an under- or over-valued price.

How is this detrimental to the forum?
Not everyone relies on others to price their pets, items and accounts for them. Many times the prices that people use are taken directly from information already on this forum. If someone is looking to trade a pet onsite, they may search the forum for pets of equitable value to get an idea of what their pet can trade for. If something is priced in a status, it is not adding to the possible results for future search queries. While you got what you wanted (if the price you were given was correct), no one else will benefit from this information when it disappears from the front page (unless they search the site by other means).

So what is the answer?
When you need a price check, request it here: http://www.neocodex....e-check-thread/
On the same token - if you are price savvy, check the thread every so often and help a brother out. There's nothing saying that only certain people are allowed to respond to price checks (except that you should of course actually know what you're talking about).

But but but people respond so much faster to statuses!
Get over it. You can deal with waiting a while for a good quality answer that in turn benefits the rest of the forum. Maybe after reading this more people will hang out on the price check thread and it won't take so long to get a reply.

I wrote this mostly because I refuse to respond to these types of price checks on principle and I think people should understand why this is.

And just to clarify I don't really care if you think this is pointless. I wrote this because I was pissed off and it was a good emotional outlet (and because I'm procrastinating on writing my history paper). Also, now I will have a handy link to post when people do this in the future.

Nice guide. I agree, and it really clutters up statuses. There's literally a thread for every question asked in statuses right now. And usually the people that know the answer are sick of answering the same damn questions every day, so they don't comment. Myself included.

But in all seriousness, this is great. Shouldn't be too long before someone pins this, I hope. :)

One thing that you may want to add is that you're growing tired of having to post the link in their statuses and random threads to the Official Price Check thread. At least I know I am and you seem to do it more than I do.

You may also wish to add that if their price check is skipped when someone posts an update pricing stuff for other people that doesn't necessarily mean that they are being ignored it just means that the person was likely unsure and left it unpriced for someone who has more knowledge of the matter to give a more accurate price.

Just a suggestion, clearly you don't have to add neither.

By the way, you may have some new members that may still ask outside of the price check thread as you do not get immediate access to the thread. Tried to click it myself to orient myself to where it is located, and realized it was in the protected TP forums that I dont quite have access to yet.

If everyone told these lazy members to fuck off, this site would be a better place.
