Firstly, I'm not using a proxy or VPN or anything at all.

From http://www.whatismyip.com/:
Your IP Address Is: xxx.xxx.2.166
No Proxy Detected

From http://whatismyipaddress.com/:
IP Information: xxx.xxx.2.134

At least these 2 shows the same first 6 digits.

When I google "what is my ip":
Your public IP address is yyy.y.229.233

It shows an entirely different IP address.

1. How can I determine which is my real IP address that TNT is going to see? :/ Is there a reason for the different IPs?
2. My dad has this VPN program which he pays for torrent downloads. He insists that I can't use it because it can only be used by the torrent software. When he is downloading torrents, I checked his IP address and it shows something similar to the first 2, which means it didn't modify the IP address at all. Does that mean I really can't use it as a VPN for my AB purposes?

More info: Our computers are connected to the same Wireless Network Connection (broadband).
Edit: As I refresh at the first 2 websites, my IP address changes. Google doesn't show a change however.

Use this:
http://checker.samair.ru/

Ignore everything else.

The problem is that one site can see through your proxy and one can't.
If the above website can see your true IP, then Neopets will be able to too.

I think that as long as IPs aren't the same it should be fine.

Strangely I see both IPs at the stated web.

I don't use any proxy though, so that doesn't really make sense to have 2 IPs. xD But thanks! :)

It's just because of your ISP, SingNet has really dynamic IPs which change all the time (on practically every http request).

Would that be considered a good thing?

Most people wouldn't notice any difference.

Ah ok, my IP changes everytime I restart my router. Say I sign into one neopets account and then restart and sign into another. Would TNT be able to link the two accounts?

We don't know what kind of tracking they employ to detect multiple accounts so it's really impossible to say for certain one way or the other if they could link them.

I think that's the reason why SingNet is down frequently.
:( It is very annoying.

nope, i doubt that is the case. SingNet didnt have a good reputation of being a stable ISP in the first place. I would recommend Starhub, it is slightly better by abit.

I did a little test.

I used various proxies (free ones) and I checked them all on the websites mentioned and they worked. However when I signed into my gmail the activity thing in the bottom right of the page still showed my original IP and location.

Thought that was well dodgy...

I don't use proxies. :/

Are you using google chrome? Maybe it is able to detect the original IP and hence showing on gmail..?
(Proxies are not my thing :p)

You should be using highly anonymous proxies, never use transparent ones.

They're supposedly the highest level of proxy you can get, perhaps Google is just too good. :p

lol yeah mate, that's what I was thinking. Kinda scary...

I think I am going to test it out with more proxies, from different proxy sites and what not.

The fatal flaw that no one seems to understand is that your isp only has a limited number of ip addresses to dish out. Eventually one of those accounts with receive an ip from another account. Its a good way for a 1 time thing, but after that, the odds are against you.

That's because google uses javascript to pull your ip address form your computer, rather then relying on reported ip's from the network.

You can't fetch a user's IP address with client side code. The best they'd be doing is issuing some form of server side check using ajax or something, which top tier proxies should handle.

Try again.

Not javascript directly, but java allows it, as well as other scripting languages.

Ah yes I get you. How many IPs you reckon they give out?

I've been keeping check for about 7 days now and I haven't got the same one yet.

I just hope TNT team aren't able to get your IP the way google does... lol
