Wow, I found the board he made, and the insanely nasty comments people are making on it.
http://www.neopets.c...51456448&next=1
Too bad they can't all drop down dead. They've obviously never heard of being compassionate. I am just so disgusted. The human race is doomed if this is acceptable behaviour these days.
This. The rudeness of people on the neoboards appalls me sometimes. Not to mention the ignorance.
That sucks. I've only ever lent avatar pets that I didn't really care about. Lost everyone of them so I now I just pound them.
I thought we were still allowed to make scammer boards? Doesn't the AC do that when they notice an abnormal highscore on avatar games?
People still make scammer threads on the PC. I don't think they usually get deleted.
Though on the AC board, someone tried to make threads about "Team Codex," and TNT deleted them and froze the user.
Different situations, yes, but it's kind of the same concept of "protecting" cheaters/scammers/etc.

All Neopets has to do is add a "Lending" feature and prevent scams. They won't though.
That would make BGC/SuAP/MSPP worthless.

I suggested this once on the NeoBoards, and the AC suckups pounced on this and said TNT doesn't support lending and if anyone gets scammed, well boo-hoo. I honestly don't care if the big 3 items get devalued. I don't understand why any item that doesn't get consumed should ever be worth that much.

Way too much demand, not enough supply.

If they're unlucky and have it stolen, on the other hand...

And because of that people realized that, if they were careful, they could lend the things and make more money over time than just selling them.

Does TNT freeze people who steal avatar items from others? Like, say someone pays someone else to borrow the SuAP, but then just keeps it. If the deal was made in writing, would TNT honor the deal? Or would they just say that the lender should've been more careful?

I know of one case where an MSPP lender got people to submit applications, and then mailed a select few who he deemed worthy to tell them they were chosen to be lent. Of course he got scammed, and TNT refused to give it back. He'd sent in a ticket, and they told him he wasn't getting it back.

Even if they do freeze the person who stole it, that would just make that item worth more because there would then be one less of that item in circulation.Does TNT freeze people who steal avatar items from others? But it's fun to think about.
Actually, it's more like white collar crime under the condition that your employer/the IRS/basically everyone with authority doesn't give a shit even though documentation of your actions is readily available.
In other words, it's easy to rationalize ("It's just a game"), it's easy to set up, and it's easy to get away with. There really isn't much keeping anyone from scamming the crap out of everyone who offers this type of service aside from the goodness of their hearts.
