Alright, so about a month ago my desktop began randomly shutting itself off or restarting.
I sorta figured it was an overheating issue, cleaned everything and it worked fine for a few days and started again.

Exhaust fan died. Video card fan stopped spinning. Cleaned it again, video card fan began working but exhaust fan did not.
Desktop would turn on but wouldn't actually do anything, HDD would make a random vibrating type noise.
Replaced the exhaust fan (damn thing is awesomely powerful now) and the computer turns on just fine, HDD doesn't make any noise, etc.

Video card fan won't spin. So I assume my card is fried (which I pray it's not and I can just replace the fan maybe?)
My mobo lights up, everything lights up, fans spin (except the card fan) all that jazz but my monitor continues to say "Cable not connected".
So, as I said I'm sure it's my video card but I noticed my keyboard won't light up when plugged in. It does for a split second the second I plug it in but won't light up after.
Which makes me think I have an issue with my mobo, but if that was the case, would all the lights still turn on, fans work, HDD work, etc?

-sigh-
I spent $1000 about 2 years ago building this PC and I'm super super upset, bummed and heart broken.
I can't afford to fix it but I really need help determining what the real problem is. If it can be fixed and how much.
Would my video card be the reason my keyboard won't light up? (I'm only asking because it worries me that it might be more than just the gfx card but I'm not sure since everything else lights up and works fine...)
Can I just replace the fan on my card? If so, how and are the replacement fans expensive?
I have an ASUS GTX 460 btw. I'm going to be really heartbroken if the entire card is gone, damn thing was like $150 :(

If I should try and replace the fan, how do I find out what size fan and all that I need or are gfx card fans pretty much the same?
I've googled different stuff and I'm not really finding much help...

I just enrolled in school for CIT (go figure, right?) and I really need my desktop. o_x Classes start next week (and one is online)

This is actually a random guess, but could it be a problem with your power supply?

Yeah, there may not be enough power being supplied through all your components for them to properly start up.

Given that it would work fine before?

Yeah right.

If the GPU fan is not spinning, the card will not work. The card has built in thermal throttling that prevents it from running when it lacks cooling. It most likely starts, hits a certain temp, and shuts itself off. The hope is that its okay. The fan can be replaced sometimes. I'm not sure about your model. I'll have to research more tomorrow.

BUT.

Contact Asus? Most video cards have like 3 years warranty. Maybe its within the date range that you can get it replaced for free. Idk what warranty you had when you bought it.

I know it's not the PS because it ran fine before and I made sure when I built the computer that it would be more than enough. :p

I bought it from Newegg, so I assume it has the same warranty. I contacted them yesterday, waiting for a response. ;\
I'm assuming if I just replace the fan, do I need to find a specific type or can I just rig any common card replacement fan to work? :p

Mmm, you can run Graphics cards without fans for quite a long time before thermal throttling kicks in, If you've ever ran a card that was meant for a water-block in an air setup you will know. SO I would assume it is either the entire graphics card, or possibly a dodgy rail on the PSU, which can happen over-time, you should try the graphics card in another rig and see if it works. Or try swapping out the power supply to correctly identify the cause. No point RMAing if it won't solve the problem.

So, thanks to the people at PCWorld's Forums, I took out my CMOS battery for a few minutes and put it back in and it fixed everything o.0
Although when my desktop finally came back on the date was set to dec 2099 and screwed with my windows activations. xD

I appreciate the insight you guys gave though. Guess this is why I'm going to school for CIT, to learn about this stuff. Haha
