I've generally found KeyQuest to be my best strategy to make points. The occasional paintbrush seems to make it a good return of points versus the time you waste. There is also a strategy that I use, of saving up silver keys for the switch over to seasonal prices, then sell or auction as quickly as possible the new seasonal prizes before the bottom drops out. It is in those situations where price estimates like the ones you have here cause people to overbid/overpay because you are not keeping up with the rapid "Key Quest plunge"You weren't.
I really don't want to know too much of the inner working, but long ago I used my background in biomedical engineering to do some pretty cutting edge bio-statistics. I expect Neopets is running similar analysis on buying patterns to what we used long ago to determine causal relationships in health data. It is just that I don't know the level of sophistication of Neopets, nor do I really understand or want to understand your programs. I'd expect most "clean" players buy and bid in pretty predictable patterns, too random would be a flag unto itself. I'd certainly want to do a set time cluster with a normal distribution randomized events centered around those times. Then neopets would likely counter by doing an analysis on those buyers that get the max profit on items, if they are keeping the same type of database as you are keeping. Success would be a flag, wouldn't it.Some of them are.
Dang, this gets the old gray smells a thinning.

Thank you. I am a little curious about this restocking program of yours and the countre measures that they use. I got from a FAQ that you could tune a delay in buying, but wouldn't you want to set a mean delay and then place a random number generator around that delay to provide a random range of buy times? You could even put a randomizer on it to provide limited periods of activity but not raise flag to make your bidding seem too robotish. Not that I really agree with the morality of such a thing, I found it frustrating to never be able to get a good buy in any of the shops, not a great way to make money. Please don't tell me I was playing against bots in KeyQuest, that would make me sad.
The Auto Buyer allows you to set a range were you want the delay to occur. A number is randomly generated between those numbers. This gives you the greatest control by allowing you to choose the range that you want the random number to go to, rather then picking a number in the middle and being limited to what the programmers think is a good range.

I suspect your fuzzy wuzzy was just attempting a poor jest of humour, but I fear a jagged edge I found in his remarks. He speaks ill of himself, with his words.
Still, he named himself after a chicken that looks like it is walking backwards into a hurricane. Do not get me wrong, I have owned a few frizzles, they are sad little things that can not survive the harsh winds nor rains, they must be cared for and protected as their curved feathers provide poor protection. If my poultry friends were kind, they'd let the breed die out. However, poultry people may love their pets, but they are rarely kind.

Do you parboil it yourself or buy it like that? I've never had a smell problem with dehydrating/re-hydrating it myself.
I bought it like that, and the worst part is I've bought different brands with the same result. I don't know what they do to it over here, but it's just gross. Actually, there's a local ad here where they have this person saying some mystery brand smells terrible, so they only buy this supposedly awesome one, which in actuality smells just as terrible

The other person that I'll not mentioned is right in that I've been doing other engineering for the last 20 years and don't do bio-statistics anymore. My knowledge is old and I mainly just want to muse about the situation.
Your situation is akin to the classic host/parasite paradox. If your parasite is too successful it destroys the host, the parasite dies. If the parasite is not successful at all, again the parasite dies. You need to be just successful enough to not cause the host neopets to need to take measures to destroy you. You have to find that balance.

If you don't want to resort to autobuying, you can always play Habitarium. If you leave it running 24/7, you can easily make at least 100k nps with minimal attention. You only need to have your petpetpets rested three times a day, in order to have them working well.

Tomorrow will also be the "longest day of play", which is good as it normally conflicts with my solstice prayers. Last year was great, they got a pump and ladder fire truck, attached the hose to the top of the ladder and produced a waterfall, mudslide for the kids. Kids loved, parents sighed because it would have looked undignified for us to join in, but we want to go and slide in the mud with them. I look forward to this year.
James, why do you want to know if we like fros? I might be slow, but as fros go, that fro is an oh, oh!
