For additive combination of colors, as in overlapping projected lights or in CRT displays, the primary colors normally used are red, green, and blue

says Wikipedia.

Additive primary colours in Photoshop are RGB, that's what he's referring to.

Cool theme, thanks for hosting mate +

You can use dark or light red, but there's a pretty clear difference between pink and red. Try your best to stay true to the theme.

In Photoshop it's RGB (Red, Green Blue) and CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellox and Key (black)) but in painting they take Red, Yellow and Blue as primary colours.

Are we allowed to use grayscale (which could be considered no colour) and then the three colours on top of that or is it strictly just RGB?

Eh. This theme seems a little... hard. :/ Might sit this one out.

Looking forward to see what people come up with though. :)

Strictly red, green, and blue.

Of course, that would mean we can only use the hex-colors 0xFF0000, 0x00FF00, and 0x0000FF. And I don't think anybody's going to check to see if every pixel on every entry matches exactly one of those hex-colors, right? Otherwise, "strictly red, green, and blue" would be completely subjective. Anyone can say that 0xFF1000 is "close enough" to red, but 0xFF1010 is not.

TLDR: The criteria of this theme might be a little too strict.
(I'm not entering, but if you look at mine, you can't say it's not RGB-themed.)

For the numerous people who have said this theme is too hard: The reason I want to keep it as only shades of red, green, and blue is because we had a color splash theme and the easiest way to approach this theme would be to slap red, green, and blue onto a black and white picture. I'm not going to be anal about the whole shades of the color thing, but try to remain as true to the theme as possible. It's meant to be a challenge.
