Welcome to the Neocodex poetry anthology.

Ever feel that there is a dearth of quality literary art on Neocodex? Fear not, for you've stumbled across the Neocodex poetry anthology. Feel free to enjoy the poems immortalized in this thread, contribute your own works, or (respectfully) critique the works of others. There is no requirement of talent to try your hand--my submissions are proof enough!

Submission guidelines:
If the poem references a Neocodex member, it must be in a respectful manner.
Poems are not required to be about Neocodex, but plagarism will not be tolerated. Instead of eternal glory, you will be rewarded with eternal SHAME.

To submit a poem (highly recommended), you may either:

  • post in this thread
  • PM it to me. If this is the case, I will assume you want anonymity and I will post it for you, without mentioning the author.

Either way, it will be added to the original post.

Enjoy the anthology!

PS- any Neo-wealthy individuals wishing to sponsor a POTW contest or other rewards should PM me

I would recommend review of the haiku form. Otherwise, good work.

Wow... that poem sucked. I have some better material now.

This is one I posted in the Love Poem for a Neocodex Member Contest.

The modest allure,

the posts evermore.

The South Africans snore,

the truth to be seen evermore.

Fancy the day that Bone got away,

and we read from the stars evermore.

Sweeney and Nymh shall become, shall we say?

Sweenymh once again evermore.

When Chappy and Ivy get married some day,

the young couple will stay evermore.

Waser, Pyro, and Slinky shall say,

Codex shall last evermore.

Here is my poem of tom.

A simple mind I may be,

The riddle of tom escapes me.

Please turn back the hands of time,

Before Futurama said my sis was fine.

I don't understand why they all tease,

for my sister is no sleaze.

It is unfair to them I say,

tap my sister again and you shall pay.

Enough of that let's move on,

to my wonderful charisma...

...oh wait, it's gone.

/end

Housewives of Neopia

Talk of butt hairs and labia.

Dispute of singing hippies nay,

disputes of Baby PB rates I say.

Housewives of Neopia

Scream aloud from Arachnophobia,

Scream aloud from hearts of gleam.

Scream aloud they are a team.

Housewives of Neopia

Oh drunken allure

A sayonara we bid to you.

Here's a poem I wrote about the people who tried to be my friend, but I ignored for many reasons. I dugged this up and it was made over 8 months ago

My Only Regret

Cracking open, dry mouthed and stiff,
Frost rests and encroaches my posts,
The silver crystals are my silver shackles
forged of my deepest regret.

Always warmed by loving eyes
Blazes of passion and flares of hope,
offer their heartfelt glow to a coward
whose blindness caused by eternal sleep.

I now seek salvation from the light that melts
the shells of tears, even if north wind reigns
To my friends I ignored to escape my pain
I regret I could not love you more

Lips moist from the drool
that spread to her pillow
as she dreamt
Eyes gleam
with a natural sunlight
that permeates the room
with shades still drawn.
Lips crinkle at the edges
as she smiles, embracing
each morning with a
courageous naivety.
Outside the window the snow falls
heavily; we must not leave.

I love this poem so I am leaving it here in the event I ever need to find it again. I thought there was a thread for random poetry, or maybe this is it, either way.

If things go bad for you

And make you a bit ashamed,

Often you will find out that

You have yourself to blame...

Swiftly we ran to mischief

And then the bad luck came

Why do we fault others?

We have ourselves to blame…

Whatever happens to us,

Here are the three words we say,

“Had it not been for so-and-so

Things wouldn’t have gone that way”

And if you are short of friends,

I’ll tell you what to do

Make an examination,

You’ll find the fault’s in you

You’re the captain of your ship

So agree with the same

If you travel downward

You have yourself to blame…

Suitcase in hand

at the door, I stand.
Reflected in glass,
my regrets of the past.

Teary eyed, I say goodbye,
he grabs a plate and lets it fly-
over my head, it hits the door.
Jagged pieces shower the floor.

Eyes glaring he stares,
spewing callous swears.
He bids me "turn around-
do it quickly, make no sound."

Steeling myself, I cast my fears
out the door, and wipe my tears.

The night is young (but so am I),
my life ahead, I need not cry.

Not as good as Yung's poem.

@Romy Thanks man!

When it is my fortune to gaze upon thee,
a glimpse of Heaven in the sky I see,
and be thy lips red soft and wet,
upon those lips I pray my own to set.
And in my boldness if I kiss thee neck,
if granted, necessity my pulse to check,
And if a sigh escape thy mouth,
perchance my kiss move further south.

Tijuana

Sirens wail

while children follow at our feet

          asking for money

               like dogs begging for scraps.

There is a chill

     in the January air, but

          "dos mas tequilas, por favor?"

and we are cold no more.

Our bodies move

     in sultry rhythm

          like two snakes rising

               from a charmers pot.

I kiss her ears, lips, and neck, and

we dance until the sun comes up.

The perfect stranger: not to be

               seen again, but remembered forever.

I hate words

by me

fucking words

thinkin' they be cool and shit

praised by the idiots who

dwell on their hollowness

like goddamn mosquitoes

drawn in by a lamp

their stomachs remain

empty even by the

warmth of the light.

meaning meaning meaning

meaning there's no meaning

if you look for it in

fucking words.

*Work in progress*

The pale light of dawn

creeps through the blinds,

illuminating the stale loneliness

that pervades into the corners,

where spiders live like kings.

I close my eyes and I see

the morning sun drip slowly

across our skin; a gentle

misting of sunlight;

a natural baptism,

a cleansing warmth

that permeates our bodies,

seeping into our bones and

our blood, filling every inch

of our being with joy

until it spills out of us

with earnest, spilling through

our fingertips as they linger,

through our lips as they embrace,

through our bodies as we love.

I open my eyes and I am alone,

but the sun is shining.

I fell in love with a man on the subway.
Both reaching for the pole our hands touch,
and I'm horrified as our glance becomes
a gaze, and his hand is still on mine.
The train pulls into the station and I escape,
running the twenty blocks home, too frightened to stop,
too frightened to breathe until I'm through the door,
holding my kids,
and kissing my wife.

Wine stains cracked lips like patchwork,
the cigarette's stench overstaying its unwelcome.
Dylan speaks softly through an empty house,
accompanied by the shrill harmony of winged preachers,
the rising sun witness to another AA chip
landing in the trash.
