Her lips tasted different-

drier, like leaves

of a plant left unwatered.

I want to eat you

like the last piece of fruit

on Earth,

savoring the succulent juices

as they flood my mouth.

treasure me well
treasure me whole
like sand i slip, like water i flow
you can’t kill me
because you can’t catch me
you can’t kill me
because i am killing you

i choose when to
stay in your grasp
i choose when to escape
from the cracks of your fingers

i am time
and you’re losing me

Neopets is fun.

Haikus can be fun as well.

Neocodex rules.

This country was my shell, I felt safe here.
Safe from the terrors of the cold, relentless, hurting, world outside of us.
I could walk outside and breathe fresh, unpolluted air.
Watch my children run with great strides across the green grass in my back yard.
Smiles plastered across their faces as their laughs echo across the street.

Now I turn on my TV and I see death.
Destruction.
Pain.
Terror.
My neighbours are dying.
I’m seeing that dangerous world I felt so protected from, slithering into the crack in my shell.
I worry for the future of my children, and I feel guilt for bringing them into such a painful place.
This world is poison.
My shell is cracked and I just want to feel safe again.

The wordless escapes my grasp
Inexpressable
For what the gods doth gift their mission
Knowing how speech is broken?

Yet endless ones, come and gone
Have toiled thus, with what their breath have borne
An echo of, what little can show
Of the whole, in this tiny world

So I sit here today, brow furrowed
Trying folly, grasping the inexpressable
And if it is spoken, then so what?
Silence shows more, and echoes most.

Soft summer dresses

hug tight curves

that beckon and sway.

Words trip on the tip

of my tongue, I smile and pray

for something charming to say.

lips of boys have touched mine
so many times it’s hard to keep track
of who kissed like they owned me
of who kissed like they lusted over me
of who kissed like they loved me
of who kissed like they didn’t know any better

i kissed them the way
they kissed me because
i didn’t know any better too
but it was good enough
for them

so how come,
of all the boys i’ve kissed
the only one i remember
is a kiss from the girl
i’ve always dreamt of
but never got to touch?

– the boys i’ve kissed and the girl i didn’t

She sang me songs

I'd long forgotten-

a chorus of smiles,

passionate kisses,

and good mornings.

Then the music

stopped

and I

forgot.
