Pie is the shit. Here's why:
  • So versatile! Nearly any fruit will taste good in a well-executed pie. And have you ever heard of a savory cake? Didn't think so.
  • (Potential) to be healthy! Fruits are ~nature's candy~ and at least better than the refined sugar you get in frosting. Meat pies often contain vegetables, that's at least three food groups if you include the crust.
  • Satisfying and complete! With cake you're usually either in it for the frosting or for the cake. Get rid of that cognitive dissonance and enjoy pie without guilt or shame.
Try to convince me otherwise.

My answer to this poll depends a lot on whether cheesecake is considered a cake or a pie.

I mean "cake" is in the name but it's basically a pie by any other standards...

What Nymh said. If cheesecake has its own recipe I vote for that...basically because you can get the best of both worlds with cheesecake. It can be made with fruit and be quasi-healthy or it can have a cake layer and be delicious, OR it can have both and be downright illegal/amazing/better than sex.

Also...I'm assuming you're thinking pies vs. cake in terms of dessert in which case I don't count meat pies.

Completely unhealthy pies, do not eat

Remember that Derby pie is a register trademark of the Kern's corporation and may only be used with written permission.

That sounds gross, but also seems fairly similar to sugar pie. I had some in Quebec this summer and it was surprisingly delicious.

Ah, cheesecake. I think it should be a category of its own...its appeal is too universal to even consider in this debate.

Ok, barring cheesecake then I'm going to have to go with pie. It's a consistency thing, for me. Cake is great but pie is better.

I like pie. It's usually moister than cake, easier to eat, comes with a flaky crust, and doesn't have frosting all over it.

I like pie because I think it tastes more natural because on cakes most store bought are fake icing which tastes like shit. Though once got this very expensive cake and it was all whip cream frosting. It was very good. It almost made me say cake and with pie there is more of a selection.

You've always preferred the flesh of newborns, then?

I prefer yogurt/fruit smoothies.

That's completely different though! Don't you ever want solid desserts?!

Yes, but you must decide that one is best. Otherwise, you'll get sugar free jello.

I've never had baked alaska, but I think I would like it. It would make me sick, but it might be worth it.

I thought, of all subjects this would be a peaceful one. As the wiseman. Bobbicus Spongi once said, "Everyone douth lovith the pie" No I was mistaken. The most banal and innocent of discussion is breaking down to harsh words and shattered friendships. Why or why, pie? Forsake Cake.

True happiness can be found in one source, and one source only. Flan.

Wait was satan an actual choice? Or does that mean I'm just too sour to like either delicacies?

I dont really like cake except for mexican Tres Leches (big surprise) - I just hate cake frosting, its too sweet.

I guess I would have to go with pie.

What is tiramisu considered? (wait just remembered Americans call it coffee cake)

Pie! I actually have pie for my birthday instead of a cake. I eat cake randomly, but Pie is so yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream~~
I also like how pies can also have whip cream (if you want it sweet) or it can just be "healthy" like apples :D

I like Pie because you can heat it up and have ice cream with it and then it's just melt in your mouth delicious

Cake is served luke warm and it's just like sweet bread. BORING

I do, however, love cheese cake and ice cream cake. Neither of which really are yeast/bread cakes.

So in conclusion, PIE FTW MUTHAFUCKAS
