2. A good laugh from reading the strayed arguments and people.
3. NeoCodex is a better community than any Neopets guild

That's prophetic right there.

This is interesting. I now want to steer the conversation to the below point:This.
I came initially for the programs, then stayed because I liked it, then I found myself really disliking the way some people act around here and I began to notice the little cliques which really just turned it around for me.
Now I try and stay away, but it's become a habit. I keep saying I'll take a break/hiatus from Codex but I need to find a new habit first that doesn't involve me getting irritated each time I come on over.
Hydrogen, Pyro699 and I were talking just now about how we don't like the forum as it exists right now. We believe that the forum's main purpose should provide a support role to the products and services that we offer. Instead, we spend a good chunk of time dealing with some people's dramatic behaviour and encouraging a community that is rather dysfunctional in our eyes. A good portion of these people don't even have any interest in what we do here -- only to cause trouble, or "stir the shit".
Why should we bother with this anymore? After all, we know from our work a couple years ago that if we make quality products, people will come. We would have something that they cannot get anywhere else. No giveaways or community events are going to coerce as many people to come as having quality products will.

I had to wait a week to have access to the Trading Post, and in that week I took the time to look around the site, and see what the buzz was about.
I ended up making friends, and enjoying the atmosphere. I never did sell that account. Although I've sold many things aside from it.
I stay now out of habit, and because I've made some really great friends here.
I agree that sometimes people act pretty elitist, and that's kind of cute considering being 'somebody' on a Neopets cheating forum isn't exactly something to brag about
But whatevs, to each their own.

This is something I've pondered for awhile as well. The origin of Neocodex was essentially a cheating community. In fact, for the longest time it was a private cheating community, and it was almost an honor to have an invite here. Neocodex didn't sell products at that time, however as you stated the main pull for the community was people seeking programs. At that time Neocodex was completely community supported, since most of the programs came from programmers like myself, Mumei, Raredaredevil, etc.
So, for the longest time, I'd say at least four years, Neocodex was a community driven Neopets cheating community. Then, with the introduction of subscriptions, and mainly Abrosia, there was obviously a shift in the focus of Neocodex. Now, rather than being purely community supported and focused, it now became product focused. However, not even a shift like that can remove 4 years of community experience.
For me, it boils down to the roots of Neocodex and how the staff feel about it. Why should you maintain the community here? Because the community provided a lot for Neocodex over it's life, and in some sense Neocodex owe's it to the members to at least attempt to maintain it. However, on the business side of things, it makes perfect sense to scrap half the forum and just focus on customer satisfaction and program research and development. I think it just comes down to how the staff feels. Do you really want the community anymore, or would you rather pursue the business side of things?

You're never going to get a perfect community, we all have different personalities and such and tbh i like that we're a rather dysfunctional community. The forums would be shit boring otherwise, that's why the mods are there to deal with the members so you guys can focus on the important shit.Hydrogen, Pyro699 and I were talking just now about how we don't like the forum as it exists right now. Why should you bother anymore? I've been coming here almost every day for the past 6 or so years, why should i bother anymore? I quit neopets about 5 years ago, the only reason i still come here is for the community/the random ass shit that goes on.

Besides a select few, I think the community is a really nice place. This is the only forum I post on a regular basis, and it would really suck if it were scrapped because of a few people. It's a smaller community, but it has a very solid base. You're never going to get a perfect community, we all have different personalities and such and tbh i like that we're a rather dysfunctional community. Every community is dysfunctional. If you and Pyro don't want to deal with the drama, promote someone to deal with that shit or delegate it and do something else with your time.
To answer your original question, I come here for the conversation, the atmosphere, and to talk to my friends. Also, because it's my job (a job which I love).

I quit using Abrosia, but it's honestly because my computer is old and so it's slow during the day and kills itself at night. (my laptop, not the programs.) Just not convenient. More of a personal problem than anything. I still read and lurk through the Neopets boards even though I don't really play a lot of Neopets.

Felt like a newb.
But in the end, I'm glad I joined. I've made a lot of awesome friends here.
I've also had a lot of eye-opening debates and discussions with people here about my own beliefs, thoughts and various interesting topics.
I usually refrain from discussing anything too intellectual because I feel like a lot of people have like PhDs and I'm just in community college. lol
Nonetheless, I'm a neopets dork at heart. haha

I don't need to be told that every community is dysfunctional.Every community is dysfunctional. If you and Pyro don't want to deal with the drama, promote someone to deal with that shit or delegate it and do something else with your time.

It's not a matter of not wanting to deal with it. We want people to identify Neocodex as a software/services provider that has a community that supports this endeavour. Having people like Kami around who don't fit into this image at all only serves to degrade the image we want for our site. I can name many others whose purpose on this site is pretty questionable and that I don't particularly like to have around.
