So My birthday is on friday and my dad's offered to get me a new console.

I currently have a ps3 fat 60gb and Xbox 60gb

So my choice is

PS3 Slim 160GB or Xbox 360 250gb

So which one do I upgrade?

I play both equally as much, Xbox for Fable and Skyrim, Ps3 Skyrim and Sims 3.

Im not really an online player so the fact of paying xbox live and getting free on ps3 doesnt bother me.

Do you already have an Xbox 360 or just the old Xbox?

Wouldn't it be better to get something else entirely rather than a replacement of something you've already got?

If you hold out for a month you could always get a WiiU although I'm still not completely sold on the controller... The games that they plan on releasing do kind of sound promising

That's true I hardly do as well but it seems like Nintendo is finally trying to get the big name developers on board with release titles such a Darksiders II, Assassin’s Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II (yes I realize that you seem more interested in RPGs than FPS but it still shows that they aren't alienating core gamers by only releasing games for the casual gamer)

Perhaps I'm being too optimistic though..

Neither, there aren't really any benefits in getting a new one...

Maybe get a 3DS or a PSP?
WiiU would be a good choice as well.

I would just say Xbox. I have both and I personally prefer it. :/

I believe there is another new console coming out. I think it's called the Ouya. Worth looking into.

That is nothing more than an Android based console which will probably be littered with tons of shitty free apps to play once it finally launches.

And Final Fantasy 3.

I hardly play my Wii as it is

The Wii U is different though, it's a major upgrade that will house more 3rd party support in the future.

And I do mean in the future, meaning don't invest in it if you don't want to play any of the launch titles.

Honestly why would you waste the cash upgrading a console if you have no purpose to? If you don't need the space and neither console is showing signs of upcoming failure, then you could (should) spend the money on something else?

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. What he did was sell both his current PS3 and 360 for the PS3 slim and ended up getting the Xbox slim as a gift

Or spend the money on something else that you need....?

I have an Xbox 360, a PS3, an iPad, an iPod, a gaming PC, and much much more. There are not enough hours in the day to spend playing all of them and if truth be told I haven't even unpacked the PS3 and Xbox since we moved into our new home in May.
When you have school/college they become an occasional luxury, and when you have job/responsibilities they become ornaments.

Its not me buying it lol Its my dad.. I wanted a new car, But I got one last month.. So Im actually out of things I want right now

Why not just get a few games to go for your systems instead of needlessly upgrading them?

Well, have a look at a list of games and exclusives for each console, see which one has more games you wanna play and choose that....?
But yeah, if you're not gonna be playing it much, I think it'd be a lot better to buy something you need :S Like clothes or food or something~ And the price of a ps3/xbox can get you a lot of those things!!

Tell your dad that then. It's your birthday and he's your father, I'm sure he can think of something to get you. You don't need to ask for anything.

Happy birthday.

I think you might be a bit late to this one, her birthday must have been like a month and a half ago now. :p

You mean half a month right?

According to this post it was on the 19th, while I was on vacation.

She could still ask for a pony, its obvious she gets everything.

Maybe you should consider a ps3 with cfw.

Do NOT upgrade your ps3 60gb, those are the only ps3s that can play ps1 and ps2 games backward compatible with japanese games. I say keep the PS3 if it's still running.

upgrade the xbox because those things break soon enough
