Canadian Thanksgiving is past, but American Thanksgiving is coming up. (Do you other countries have food-centric holidays?)

What did you eat? What do you want to eat?

Usually, I fry a turkey, but I lost the turkey fryer in my last relationship dissolution. So that part is up in the air.

I love cornbread stuffing though, with Andouille and onions and pepper and butter. I also usually make fruit salad with Jello and whipped cream. Mashed potatoes. Rolls. (I suck at making rolls though, so I buy those.)

I'm going to guess a massive pot, and a Costco sized jug of oil.

Outside in a turkey fryer. You have to settle for a smaller turkey or spring for a bigger fryer, but it's worth it. Couple of boxes of oil. I like peanut oil.

On the upside, you can also use the fryer set up to heat water for canning to help keep the stove free during things like that.

ohohoh. I forgot. And then after you pull the turkey out, you can dump hush puppies and hashbrowns in and it's amazing.

That's what the fruit salad is for. To balance it out.

Fried turkey is good, but I much prefer a traditionally baked turkey that has been soaked for a couple of days beforehand in a nice flavorful brine. Mmm, I love to make turkey.

But i'm going to make a holiday for this cake, just so I can eat it and not feel guilty.

I'm extolling the virtues of fried turkey, but secretly I'm lazy. It takes a couple hours and I can use the oven for other stuff.

Psh, is not. This is a cake for a single person.

Is your wedding cake going to look like this? Consider this an automatic RSVP if it is.

If you would really come all that way for our wedding, then yes, the cake would look however you wanted it to look. Though I think you would enjoy the cake that I plan to make just as much :)

I didn't bring it up!

So, food. Tonight I think I'll make mashed potatoes and ham with applesauce and honeyed carrots.

What do you expect? You're like the Ron and Hermione of Codex. Sweeney being Hermione of course.
