Are there any good games that came out maybe 4 years ago or longer that I could play on my laptop without a mouse?

Games I have enjoyed playing:

FTL
Binding of Isaac
Hotline Miami (this one was a little harder without a mouse)
Maple Story (this one got old kinda fast)

Get WotL DLC for BoI.
Dustforce is awesome, Super Meat Boy is really fun too(but really frustrating) and one of the guys who made it also made BoI. Oh and Braid. One of the best games I've played.

It's scary how many of those were featured in Indie Game: The Movie.

Civilization IV was meant for this query. ;)

It's been a while, admittedly, but isn't that game almost entirely mouse based?

Gameboy/(S)NES/N64/Gamecube/PSX/PS2 emulator + roms. Plenty of good games from this, which don't require you having a mouse, maybe some would if you're trying to run wii games under the gamecube emulator, but I'm not sure since I haven't tried.

Also with emulators, you're able to enhance the visual quality of older console games. Right now having a blast playing the original Spyro with 16xAA and 1080p.

2 out of the 3 featured, and the 3rd game featured is an xbox exclusive game. Watched the movie at the start of the year, but played those when HiB V came out, which reminds me, LIMBO, really fun, should also add it to the list.
Or you know, you could get a mouse...
Also, cyo's right, emulate console games.Though if you're on an old laptop, I don't think you'll be able to run GC and PS2 emulators. Even though the consoles are over a decade old, emulators are really poorly optimized.

It is. Well, except for Civ V, which comes with touch screen support, I don't think that suits OP's need either.

Touhou games~ You only use the arrow keys/shift/z/x for them and they don't need the best hardware ever to run nicely :3 (if you have a short left shift key then good luck!....)

Also yeah, emulating is good!! RPG Maker games (like Yume Nikki/.flow/IB/Witch's House) are good toooo~

If they're on a laptop then presumably they have a touchpad to use. I'm guessing by no mouse they were referring to game genres like FPS where you can't really play with a touchpad. More strategic games like Civilization and the Total War series would be fine to play without a mouse.

Halo in Heroic with a pointing stick. Sure, it's harder than with a mouse, but it's not impossible...

It's very doable especially with its turn based gameplay. Civilization IV and various racing games were my go-to games on a laptop.
