Let's assume there is a girl who has a male friend from her childhood. Growing up together, they became really close and eventually traded their virginity and would practice on one another. They've never dated anyone else during that time and only see each other as friends, nothing more. One could say they were fuck buddies.

 

The girl now has a boyfriend (the guy, with a girlfriend) and continues to do things with her close friend. Some of the things they might be doing together:

 

Shower together

Watch porn together

Do each other 'favours'

Practice kissing

Practice on each other (to perform better with their partners)

Practice using/trying out toys

She sends nudes or suggestive photos to him (sexy outfits, girl with boyfriend POV)

Holding hands while in public

Going out together for a smoothie

 

Now imagine you are currently in a relationship with the girl/guy, where would you draw the line?

Other than that if I wanted an exclusive relationship, I wouldn't want my SO to be doing any of that with another guy.

But that's just me. There are plenty of ways for people to love, and if you're into polyamory, that's cool too. But as far as the traditional bf/gf situation goes, yeah I wouldn't want my gf "practicing" any of that stuff on someone else.

If the relationship is an exclusive one, personally I don't think any of the above would be okay, at all. Realistically, why the fuck would you commit to any sort of  'relationship' in the first place if you would rather be messing around with someone else?

I'f I had a SO I'd be against them doing pretty much all of that, maybe holding hands would be alright, but it'd still probably annoy me..but if in this situation everyone knows whats going on, and is happy with it, then go for it, I guess =)

So why is it OK for you?

 

Shower together - If she wants someone to shower with, she can shower with me.

Watch porn together - Depends on the situation.  Just the 2 of them, no.  If it was for a laugh at a party, with a big group, and I was there, ok.  Cos he aint touching her.

Do each other 'favours' - She can do me 'favours' and I'll do them in return.

Practice kissing - She can practice on me

Practice on each other (to perform better with their partners) - She can practice on me.  He doesnt know how I like it.  If she wants to be better for me, she can work with me.

Practice using/trying out toys - As above.

She sends nudes or suggestive photos to him (sexy outfits, girl with boyfriend POV) - Hell no.  Send them all to me.

She puts on a show for him (striptease, lapdance) - Only I should be getting these private shows.

Sleep or cuddle together - Sleep no.  Cuddles are ok.  In public.  But only for a short period of time.  I cuddle some of my femaled  friends, it doesnt mean anything, it shows I care about them.  More of an extended hug then cuddles.  Mofucker better watch where his hands go while cuddling.  Above the small of her back only, nowhere near her ass.

If it was a completely platonic relationship between them then things like sleeping in the same bed together wouldn't be so bad, but the idea of 'fuck buddies' is flawed if you ask me, and would make activities that could be innocent (I've slept in the same bed as my friends and watched porn with them) significantly less so. Sex is so tied up with emotion you are asking for trouble if you bring it into a 'friendship'.
