I have a suggestion about something. If you buy a legit pet, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, especially if the previous owner can confirm that. Just have the previous owner put on their lookup "(Insert date here) : Adopted out my amazing (insert pet nickname) to my buddy (insert your name)".

I'LL MAKE A SENARIO, COS I HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO =)

Let's say person X sells his legit pet, named "sonicboomboom69" to the user "pinkflamingo1997", who's name is Georgina. Have person X write on his userlookup

14/5/13 - Adopted out Sonic to my amazing friend, George. I hope you enjoy your new pet

That way, since it's vague and you don't reveal the exact username/petname, they won't be able to link person X's account to the pet, UNLESS they searched the cache. Once the suspicious PCer sees this, they'll be like "yep seems legit"

JellyFish, that's not a bad idea. :)

Small update/addition:

DO NOT make a board on the PC about how shocked you are about "catching" the pet in the pound. Yes, even if it was transferred via the pound. You would just be drawing unnecessary negative attention to your self.

What if you really do have a friend who doesn't play anymore and sends you their pet after being inactive for several years?  Will you get banned if you try and trade the pet?

I wouldn't think so. Unless you have sevral 'friends' that pop up all of the sudden and they all send you their UC's.

If you're aiming for a certain UC, get your friend to do the trades for you and on every board they can say that they are trying to get a friends (you) dream pet. That way, when they send you the pet you were after - it will be expected.

Thanks for the guide. I'd like to do the same, but I think I'll use a story and fill in any holes over a couple of months :p

Definitely don't think people in general should do this but as an experienced (bought) UC trader I usually wait one month max before going on the PC to trade it. A lot of keeping your pet safe really is about making the pet look legit! Update its cache, send offers by neomail only at first, have a convincing story for how you got your pet ready beforehand, sound a bit reluctant about letting go of your UC, and customise your pet/give them their own lookup/petpage. Trying to make fair offers or only slight overoffers def help, too! It's just when you offer your vwn UC faerie techo on a dn UC darigan Kau that people will get suspicious.

I've posted on the PC before, only one board of my own. But, I'm slightly "active" on other boards? Should I send a pet I'm planning on buying to another account and then fall "inactive" (just not posting on boards) for a couple months before I move to my main? I am already cutting down on how much posting I do by quite a bit!
