Does anyone know if it's possible to get this refreshing with some items in the trading post?

 

I've been refreshing for quite some time and I haven't gotten it yet... T___T

 

 

I'd like to preemptively apologize if this is in the WRONG section, even though I'm pretty sure it's not "Or discuss anything related to avatars here." ... but I have been fooled before X-x

It does NOT work with items in your trades. Just use a bunch of junk items and one item from the HT, your stuff will be safe.

I used like 81 obsidian daggers.

I got away with one HT item and 37 talismans... +30 more junk items for protection

 

Got it on the 4th refresh

Just buy the obsidian daggers, you can often find people with 100+ in their shops.

I used sand snowballs, can't remember how many, but it was quite a few xD Made a nice profit with them after too

Is it just me or are Obsidian Daggers the decoy of choice when getting this avie?

The solitaire champion shirt. I got it for 1k per shirt, so more expensive than the others but I used to lend them out so cheap + minimal number of trades was critical.

It's the easiest, IMHO. Inexpensive and also, it's cheap enough that it doesn't matter if you lose one in an RE.
