Do you have a number I can call to get ahold of your carers? I am worried about your safety.

"Hold" is not the word I was using, though.
I'm not convinced that you should be allowed on the internet unsupervised.

You should try saying the following:
...number I can call to get hold of your carers.
...number I can call to get ahold of your carers.
I am concerned about your education if you honestly thought that ahold was a different way of saying hold as the words are different and have different meanings.

As a proper response. Ahold is actually stemming from the phrase 'a hold' which, when first widely used in the 1840's, was a phrase used to describe creating contact with another person. Much different than the word, not phrase, hold which by definition means to grip or grasp firmly.

Googled for the date reference and to verify my memory of the word was correct.
My senior English teacher did a quarter lesson on distinctions between words made from phrases and words. Ahold and hold was his key argument and so it kinda stuck out in my memory.
