???? and this is wrong because ????

Americans are taught at a young age that taxes are bad. That's why we divorced you British people. You wanted to tax our tea. Now we don't even like tea that much. We hate taxes. Period. We expect money for education, healthcare, technology etc etc to fall from the sky.

THIS.  And all the chemicals that they'll add to the shitty weed to grow it.

I don't think all the stoner enthusiasts would let that happen. Here in California weed is already a huge cash crop and those people are super serious about dank weed.

Katt Williams pretty much sums up my opinion on weed

Some of the posters here made really good points.  What we don't need is weed being mass-grown and marketed.  As a "drug" itself, I've yet to find any really harmful effects that occur because of smoking pot.  Sure, there are some agencies that will tell you how its harmful, but a lot of the effects are highly exaggerated or only apply if you're smoking a horrendous amount of weed in one sitting... Which, honestly, who has the money for that sort of thing?

That being said, I think decriminalizing weed is the best option for everyone.  I wish I could say "legalize it and require a special license to grow it", but let's face it, the government is corrupt, and it's not like that will actually do anything.   But on the other hand, people being labeled criminals because they decided to do some pot doesn't sit very well with me.  I feel like there's a huge to-do about weed when we should be focusing a lot more on hard drugs.  Why are we chasing teenagers down and confiscating their weed when we still have meth dealers all across the Midwest?  That's my big question.

No.

I realize some of those links are outdated or expired, but regardless, it's still a hefty compilation of legitimate medical studies that contradict your point.

If you could go through every article and pinpoint what specific statements you are making, you may have a valid point.

Assuming you're talking about the inhalation of smoke while smoking marijuana causing cancer, you don't have to smoke it, that's why edibles (and drinkables) exist.

I don't care because the only time I tried once I didn't feel anything...

Most first time users don't notice anything their very first time. There are a few different causes for this. One of the most prevalent ones I believe is that when inhaling smoke for the first time most really don't know how to do it. Plus smoke is harsh on the lungs, especially when it's the first time an individual has inhaled any kind of smoke. When inhaling and instantly coughing all the smoke out one it will diminish the effect, especially if not inhaled properly. I've always found that people do not really know what to expect when it is their first time smoking weed. In my opinion marijuana is a subtle drug.

I have absolutely no problem smoking a bowl and then functioning in every day society. I can go to class, drive a car, talk professionally with people, and overall not make a complete ass of myself in public. Admittedly, yes, there have been a few occasions where I've had laugh-attacks or something silly like that, but overall it's not a huge difference from sober-life. Not only that, but it makes me a better student. This is just through my personal experience. This past semester at Michigan State University I had a group-research paper to do and at the end of the semester we had to give a presentation in front of the class and a board of professionals. Extensive research was done on the issue of climate change. Before smoking this project was just a thing that I had to do and it did not ever sound fun, but ten minutes and a bowl later I was more than ready to hop on the computer and research. In my opinion smoking weed and the subtle high it provides makes learning FUN. I love reading about how systems and processes work. I love compiling information, and I love listening to teachers lecture. Most would consider these attitudes beneficial, and I see a direct correlation between my interest in education and cannabis use.

With that being said, Lansing recently decriminalized marijuana so as long as I am here I am set. However, it hasn't yet been decriminalized in my hometown of Muskegon, I'm hoping it will be one-day.

Decriminalize this shit. There's no reason for me to sit in jail for 30 some days because I smoked a bowl in my living room. That's outrageous.

Not sure if you guys are following Colorado's legalization, but when it was legalized there was a clause in it forcing all tax revenue from it to be spent solely on building and improving their schools.  They expect to get an additional $40 million every year from the tax that has to be spent on schools.  With the state of the American school system being completely awful, and the majority of teachers coming out of college going into that profession because they had no real expertise or any idea what they should do with their life, we need all the help we can get.  Heck id legalize meth if it meant that I didn't have to send my eventual kids to private school for a good education.

Would you also want your future kids to hook up on meth/marijuana? Legalizing meth/marijuana makes this future more likely.

I'd be fine if my kids smoked pot or did E.  That'd be the extent of it though.  If i had to choose them either drinking or smoking pot I'd go with pot.

Yes, just because it being illegal clearly isn't stopping that many people and Colorado hasn't fallen off the face of the earth yet.
