Are they? As far as shock value goes, they're pretty obvious. They're poorly executed as well. I think that's what offends me the most. The lack of imagination and craftiness. If you're going to be vile for shits and giggles, at least put some effort into it.

Well I haven't seen any others dressed like any of those so they're creative from that aspect to me. :p

That's probably because everyone else has a little tact (probably not but let's just say they do.) At the same time, other people might have done it but just not posted any pictures. I just don't see how someone puts on a Treyvon Martin/BM bombing victim costume or a costume from any other tragedy and thinks, "yeah, this is a great idea. Everyone's going to love this."

I just... really? Their stupidity just baffles me.

DRESS AS A MINION or idk Heisenberg.

Who let their kid dress up as a KKK member? Completley irresponsible parenting. I hope that when parents answered the door to give candy, they stood there shocked and didn't give that kid any. You don't deserve candy when you're dressed as something that's hateful and racist.

May not have even been the child's choice, sadly.
I completely agree though. I think if a child came to my door dressed like that, once my initial shock wore off I'd ask them about their costume, why they chose it, if they know what it means. If they didn't understand I'd tell them it's a mean costume and they should tell their parents I said so and still give them candy, not the child's fault right? It takes a village to raise a child.

True, but that brings up the question, why did the parents dress their kid up like a KKK member? They have to know what that costume means, even if the kid doesn't. If he came to my door, I probally would have taked to the parents about it, telling them exactly why I wouldn't give him candy. Even if the kid doesn't know what it means, I feel like if I don't give him candy I'm sending a message to the parents that I don't support what they did to their kid when they had him wear that.
Maybe the kid will ask why he didn't get candy, and hopefully his parents will explain exactly what his costume means.

I might give him an apple though, just no candy, or anything kids actually want. So I don't seem "rude" for not giving him anything. I'm mean, I know it.

People have the right to be offended, as well as to offend.

It might be in poor taste, but ultimately, it doesn't affect anything at all.

This is one of the best things I have read of yours. And I don't even like you so it isn't like I am sucking up.

Just because someone has a right, it doesn't mean it is right. Right?

Evening, a bombing victim is a decidedly offensive choice, but also one that easily backfires on the person dressing up as one. The person is perceived as a moron, and dismissed. The blatant abuse of the illusion of "free will" won't really change that for good or ill. Other than that, I always tend to think the most offensive Halloween costumes are any not monstrous because it doesn't fit the original purpose of the "holiday". (that, and i find commercialism distasteful)
