I think as it's the first of its type of contest here, we just vote on whatever grounds necessary for whatever photo/image we like?

 

Maybe as a future recommendation, if it's going to be a regular photography contest, maybe set a theme (e.g Macro, Filtered, Animals, Grayscale, Manipulated and so on) to follow. That way we can have a precedent on what to look for in an image/photo and how to vote in regards to said theme(s).

 

I think voting on what is liked is the way to go with this one...and yes, it definitely could have been better organized (sorry about that)! I'd like to see it become a regular contest though, and I agree that setting a theme, much like Ivysaur does with the Customization Reboot, would be ideal.

 

i don't participate mainly because i don't own a camera but i'm glad to see so many entries. i voted for #4. i think it's a very sweet photo which encompasses the theme very well. i just wish the wife would pose differently because she looks a little weird there.

 

perhaps entrants can submit some caption along with their submission next time? i'm clueless with most of what these photos are... good luck!

There shouldn't be a need to specify voting criteria. It's a photography competition, you vote for the image that has the best overall look.

I voted for #8. I feel that picture best depicts both the skill of a photographer and the broad theme of photography.
Given the good composition and exposure I like it the best.
