I was looking at the stickies and the sets listed there, but on the updated guide there is a 3m set and a 50mil set...I'm looking for somewhere in between.

My goal is to have a set that is capable of beating any 1P opponent with a 35 or 55 boost pet (if possible).  I'm hoping a set between 10-20 mil can accomplish this (closer to 10mil if possible).

Any suggestions?

It's hard, because once you hit around the 3 - 5m mark, for the most part, everything jumps by millions. For constants, I'd say Ylana's Blasters. Look into a pet specific freezer/stealer/healer(s), and maybe an HT shield / reflector.

would the 5m sets work for what I'm trying to accomplish?  I'm thinking they won't (at least not for that lower level boost I'm aiming for right now).

It's possible, but it'd be more consistent with the 10 - 50m range set.

for 10m I would suggest either a 100% freezer or a gbomb in addition to the suggested 3m set

For a non-species freezer, you start running into 6 mil

You could do what you want to do, but only if your pet was trained to the level of Warlock's rage.  That would be cheaper than buying better weapons.

You might inquire about the cost in np or other to get a better battledome pet.

If you can get to this point [6m freezer], why not spend just a little more and go for MMOM or something with a little tiny bit of a punch? That could be the difference between a win and loss

Also, a 50% healer once you get above 150 HP would be super helpful. Since The Crisp Blue Tunic and Bag of Healing Dust has suddenly inflated beyond my budget from the more reasonable 10m before the Obelisk War Plot, getting your battledome pet to an Elephante is what I would recommend, as the elephante morphing/trans potions have low rareties [assuming you're not running a labrat!] and the heal is invaluable

For 1P, I think Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield (~7.8M) is hands down the best possible use of NP.

Consider that you're usually facing an opponent with HIGHER hp but deals LESS icons. Pound for pound, each icon blocked is much more valuable than each icon dealt. Therefore HNMS is >>> 20 icons (covering all but dark and fire). Pair that with Hanso Charisma Charm (for dark) or Scarab Ring (for fire...haha there really isn't anything better. Maybe Clawed Shield?) and you're almost invincible.

Along the same line, Rusty Pitchfork is also ridiculously efficient for cost (16 icons for 400k), and all 1P use Physical.

The step after would be a freezer as suggested by @L33T @jinq

As everyone has said for you set value you really have to be looking at the species freezers or healers and build your set around that.

Gone are the days when mid level weapons came from the Neoquests.  I remember back in the day being excited about buying some of them.  There are now some cheap mid level weapons released from events such as Altador Cup Throwing Star, Hanso Charisma Charm, Ylanas Blaster, and Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting.

One thing I would say is training your pet has become more important as you need to level your pet to get the abilities that are good go here for advice:

Because hp doesn't go up per win, you might want to look into spending your np on training first.

If you've not already seen it I recommend you check out the Battledome Set Guide.

If you've not already seen it I recommend you check out the Battledome Set Guide.

It's a bit outdated. At 3mil, buying Honey Potion is a bit silly when 15-icon multiuse Stone Foam Finger is available now for 2mil. Also "16-icon" Rusty Pitchfork is good.

Also is it true that reflected icons from Voidberry Potion are now blockable and reflectable in new BD? And they no longer use your opponent's strength? Or is that temporary?

My goal is to have a set that is capable of beating any 1P opponent with a 35 or 55 boost pet (if possible).  I'm hoping a set between 10-20 mil can accomplish this (closer to 10mil if possible).

Also I wanted to reiterate what some people already said - not sure what you mean by beating any 1P, but this is probably impossible. Snowager using Snowager Breath would deal 225 damage. Unless you're gonna have lots of HP with that 55 boost, there's no way to beat the stronger opponents with such low boost.

If I have about 5 million np, what would be a good set for a lab ray pet (hp=1000, lvl=15)

Depends what are your strength/defense boost and do you mostly play 1P/2P?

In general I suggest for low defense boost:

  • Stone Foam Finger (2M) or Dr. Sloths Personal Bath Buddy (1.8M) or muffins (1NP each) if you don't play that much.
  • Hanso Charisma Charm (450k)
  • Parasol of Unfortunate Demise (1k)
  • Altadorian Swordbreaker (70k)
  • Randomly Firing Freeze Ray (250k) unless you get a Lenny

Now most importantly, the healer since you have so much HP!

  • You can't afford Bag of Healing Dust (15M 50% heal) or Leaded Elemental Vial (40M 100% heal) so you will really need a species healer.
  • Does anyone think Ice Scorchstone might actually be viable?
  • I recommend morphing into Lenny because you get both a healer AND freezer:
    • Bag of Lenny Healing Seeds (2M) 50% heal
    • Lenny Ray Gun of Freezing (1M) 100% freeze
  • Other options include: Kacheek, Gelert, Elephante, Shoyru, Uni, Blumaroo, and Nimmo

Also Split Lenny Morphing Potion is one of the cheapest at only 45k NP even if you lose your species.

As long as you aren't labbing for a while, the highest value for your points would be to train... LEVEL!!

When you get lens flare and Warlock's Rage that's 2 freezers for less np than 1 100% freezer costs, in addition, if you get your level up a little bit higher you can get the healing ability which will take full advantage of your pet's impressive hp.

That is definitely the best value for your NP, and even if you go back to labbing the cost to keep your level up shouldn't be too extreme.

As for set items, your HP is already a great defense. I agree wit the previous posters who recommended Parosol of Unfortunate Demise and Altadorian Swordbreaker. Velms Healing Potion would be a great cheap healer to take advantage of your insane max HP. Finally.. if you need damage Skarls Hasty Mace is a good option. But with the speed at which anagrams are deflating in the auction house market right now, I would hold onto your NP and collect interest on your money. It will pay for training (or at least part of the bill) and weapon prices are probably going to keep dropping for a while given that TNT has shown almost no interest in doing new battledome content.
