So, none of us are worried?

Nah. It's just a waste of energy being worried about Mibs sleeping with someone who sees her as a potential romantic partner.

Yeah, that's why I just picked one I sorta liked and stuck with them. I got other things to do. *slurps an ICEE, sitting on ass for hours clicking through a Neopets Cheating Forum*

The main time I see it as being important is if you're in a doctor's office, the doctor needs to know if you have ovaries or testicles as that changes a differential quite a bit!

That's probably the best point I've seen made in this thread as it basically divides the classification back to make or female regardless of "how you feel". In the case of people born with male and female genitals (hermaphrodites) do they answer the Dr as male or female or both?

What about trans gender? Both pre-op and post-op? (I'm going to as men->women for example) Some fully classify themselves as women even though they haven't fully gone under the knife but are in the stage of hormone replacement therapy. Does a Dr still classify them as men because they still have their testes? What about post-op as they have now had these removed they are now "women" but they don't and never had ovaries so for medical treatment / purposes does that make them men?

I know that sometimes the question of gender in medicine is also asked for child bearing reasons . Some medicines can't be given to women whom are wanting / trying for children or pregnant. Would the medical classification of male/female still apply after menopause? I guess certain medical checks (Pap smears etc) are stil required but do post op t/g still need these as well?

As for breast cancer men CAN actually get that too so that's not an argument for later classification of male/ female after menopause...

Heeey so I want to brings my opinion.

I used to hang out with the pretty hardcore queer community (my own sexuality at the time falled somewhere between "Legal and Consenting" and "How much are you paying me?"), and yeah, some people would have pretty interesting visions of their gender. Drags, Trans, Two-spirite... Almost all of them were supper nice, and yeah, sometime I would missgender someone. All of the time they politly corrected me and the conversation moved along. Only once someone simply told me to call them by their name and not by any specific gender. And you know what? Most of them would have been happy with an "Other" space on whatever official paper work, and all of them where completly ok to have their biological sex on their medical record. Because that shit is kinda important.

So I think that 57 gender is abusive a bit. I have never meet a real life person calling themself Genderfluid heteromantic demisexual or whatever. The weirdest I have seen is a native folks indentifying as a two-spirite, but then it's in their traditions, so why not. People are making a montains out of notings. If you really want to be politically correct, add an "other" to official paperwork and be done with it. No one pratically minded will contest you.

Even a small amount of time on tumblr will reveal crazier things.

Male and female are not the only two choices in biology.  A worker honey bee being a case in point.

No, they are not.  "Masculine and feminine" are societal constructs about how its members are suppose to react, biology is about who has ova and who has sperm.

In that case I'm a horse as I've socially defined myself as one. Because that's factual and correct /s

Is there a reason why they have to be synonymous? If someone doesn't feel comfortable with their assigned at birth gender then they shouldn't have to be forced to just stick with it because some person thinks they should. Even if they are comfortable with their assigned gender, why do they need to stick with the stereotypical shit? If you're a cismale but you like feminine things then that should be that. You're just a cismale who likes feminine things and aren't trans. If you're a cisfemale who likes masculine things then that should be that too. Your personal taste and comfort shouldn't be limited by what close-minded people want.

You're looking into things way too analytical. All I'm stating is there are two genders, male and female. You can be both or neither. However you come to that conclusion (say your transgender or whatever) is your prerogative and more power to you. (Theoretical you of course, I'm not implying you're transgender).

It's not that rare. I mean sure, the majority of those with a chromosomal abnormality don't even know it unless they have a DNA test, but XXY chromosomal arrangement, for example, are about 1 male in 1000. I'm sure you've seen an individual with it before and not known it. Yeah, it's not the 1 in 10 estimation of homosexuality, but it's common enough that I feel there should be some option to either say "neither" with a write in option or "no gender specified." I don't really see the harm in allowing that option,

Also the usage of every other species is... uh.. sorry, but horribly inaccurate. Are you familiar with snails and slugs at all? Some species of fish are also hermaphrodites. There are some species that can even change their sex as they develop.

I very much doubt that the abnormality that is the hemarophdite situation is as common as 1/1000. I'd like to see some sources (unless I've misread that).

I will almost guarantee that in the cases of most animals that have both sexual organs, they'll usually take on a male or female dominated role.

I think people are missing my point. You are either a male or a female. There isn't any grey are pre se and you can't be both or neither. It doesn't matter how you come to that conclusion, if you're a female in a male's body, then so be it, but then you change gender. My argument isn't that people should't be able to change gender or they can't, it's merely impossible to be both male and female or neither.

Also, the next person to use cis terms is being blocked. I refuse to acknowledge tumblerite bullshit.

haha
I laugh, but I'm being insensitive. I'm sure a horse feels incredible embarrassment when made to wear a dress, and I TOTALLY get that. I respect Frizzle's decision to come out as a horse.

Seriously... I don't know. I sort of feel bad for people who have to have all these names to identify themselves. Although... it's kind of nice looking at that list and thinking, "Oh yeah, that's totally me. There are other people out there that are like me." I just personally never felt the need to belong, and I certainly don't care about what other people think of me. I never correct people if they call me sir or ma'am. Just whatever. I've been called much worse, TRUST ME.

I don't really understand how someone can identify as "male" or "female" with respect to their gender. I have a vagina, but I don't feel as if I am any different on the inside from someone who has a penis. I am a person with a vagina. If I had a penis I would be the same person, just with a penis.

Probably due to social constructs, biology, media influence and self identity.
