This is right up my alley as a linguistics major lol.

EVERYBODY has an accent, there is no standard way of speaking, anywhere. People who say otherwise are simply wrong.

Multi-linguals are awesome! Please don't take for granted the blessing of being born with more than one language.

Or if your other languages are learned, props to you for working so hard. It takes some serious commitment.

Good job this thread got bumped, we're still waiting on those Hermione monologues @Ali.

Did I ever do readings from Harry Potter? I can't remember.

Dammit! Would have been my first guess, but a previous post of yours mentioned annoyances about learning English! ;(

Hahah that's because Chinese is my mother tongue, so I did indeed have to learn English. :')

I figured. Haha, when you opened your mouth, I was like. Definitely an Aussie. I'm an Aussie too. But, my accent is weird. Considering I was born and grew up in Aus, I should speak like an Aussie but apparently I don't O_o

Yeah it's super weird! I've spent time with people who lived almost all their lives in Australia, and somehow I sound more Australian than them. I'm like, "how the heck did you get a British/American accent?" O___o

Ah. Yeah. Forgot to mention that I'm half-Japanese and half-English. I was raised mostly by my English grandparents xD So, that might be a reason.

Probably watching too many TV shows :lol2:

My younger sister watches Dora the explorer. And, she's sort of developing an American accent. Like she says certain words and phrases the American way xD

I don't think you did actually. There was something about not pandering to the whims of somebody or other (not sure what that was about) but no Harry Potter, sadly.
