What is an English

There is no "an English" unless you were referencing a person such as "an Englishman", "an English speaking person", etc. It would be "what is English?" and the answer would be a language. In either case, that's a proper noun - or a specific person, place or thing.

You forgot that a noun can also be an idea!

Also -- Codex mobile theme grinds me gears. Actually it destroys them.

An idea is a thing. But if we're gonna be specific, ideas are abstract nouns - or things that are not 'real' (in the most literal sense). Most nouns are concrete; things that can be seen, touched, licked, smelled or heard.

This lesson has been brought to you by a nerd who has way too much time on her hands and loves the English language.

I hate to combobreak this English/comma debate, but after looking at the news, I thought of something that grinds my gears:

New York and the sunvabitch voters who somehow thought Trump should get 60+% of the votes. How is he still a thing?

It annoys me when I've got the pram with me and people *don't* move out of the way, like seriously do you want to have your ankles broken by this giant monstrosity of a pram full of a fortnights worth of shopping + a young child who likes to kick people (she sits at butt height too) from the front seat that I'm pushing around?

When I have my arm out of the car window and someone starts to roll it up.

When there's a hair on my penis and I don't realize and start peeing in two different directions.

When I type a good amount of words and submit only for it to ask me to log in again and I lose all the work. (Doubly gear grinding if I say to myself "I should copy this just in case" and then I don't.)

What really grinds my gears is when I see men sexually harassed by women, and the reaction is either nothing, "Man up!", "You should be enjoying this!", "Are you gay?", and a whole load of other responses.

Double standards in general, really.

Also people chewing with their mouths open, and other things considered lack of etiquette. I grew up taught and surrounded by manners and etiquette, and lose my s*** when other people don't follow it. Then I remember etiquette classes aren't a thing anymore.

Happens a lot more than people think or care to admit, glad someone is as much rattled by it as I am. Double standards for sure, and as a dude it's definitely harder to understand until you've been in that situation or have seen it.

When you decide not to smoke before bed because you need to wake up early but then you can't sleep because you didn't smoke and then you're up at 5am after a night of terrible sleep typing this shit out
