There's content? I just read the title and complain irrationally.

I watched this a long time ago as a part of some program I was in. It's really surprising that the children were so affected by the segregation even knowing it was only pretend but props to that teacher.

Oh, do they know it's fake? I watched it a long time ago and was told the kids didn't know and that was the experiment.

I think the understanding of young kids is often underestimated. Spending time understanding the problems with society and developing a positive way of viewing themselves and each other isn't what they would prefer to do, but I think they are by all means capable (to an extent) if given the chance. I think a lot of problems with society can be 'solved' in the classroom- sure the change will be gradual but it is where the process needs to begin. From my own experiences with the people around me, older people are far more set in their ways than is required for a social change.

PROPS TO TEACHERS WHO TEACH LIKE THIS.

i watched the whole thing. really got to say the children minds are more susceptible to change, just looking at how they threw all the collar away after experiencing both side of the coin. That, i don't think the older people could just take their prejudice and chuck it off.

but i mean are teachers now allowed to do such things? wouldn't it require the parents consent?

Well she asks them if they want to "try" it and says it sounds like fun.. I mean she's making it pretty obvious that it's a classroom activity.

A classroom activity doesn't automatically mean it's pretend. I guess I misinterpreted the way she was presenting it.

I think you're misinterpreting my post, actually :p
I'm not saying she looked at them and said "I'm going to segregate the class and observe your behaviour, k? k!"

But if you watch the video, she makes it clear they're just trying it out and she pretty much explains why, it's so they know how it feels to be judged like black people and native people do. When I was in third grade I would have known where she was going with it based on that, it's not like they're little babies.

She slipped it in so casually, I doubt I would've noticed at that age.

Especially since I didn't notice it now.

Did you re-watch the video since you watched it a long time ago? I feel so confused because I feel like she was really direct and obvious about it.
I don't really understand what's being argued right now, you're confusing me lol

There isn't anything being argued...

And yes, I watched it twice today (when it was first posted and again when we started talking) and once a long time ago.

That's why I'm confused. Green eyed people are easily confused.

That's probably true, we're at the bottom of the food chain here.
