The First One-Shot Story Contest

Welcome to the first - and hopefully not last - One-Shot Story contest!

 

The Challenge

The challenge is to write a One-shot based on a given sentence and theme.

 

What the hell is a One-Shot?

A one-shot story is basically a short story. It contains no chapters (or just 1, if you will) and is a complete story, without cliffhangers, from beginning to end. No prequels, no sequels.

 

Theme: Dragons

Whether you are currently digigng Flight Rising, Game of Thrones, How to Tame a Dragon or dragons in general, this theme is the one for you.

 

The Sentence

Every participant will start their One-shot with the following sentence:

The Rules

For the sake of format, I've included a couple of rules.

• The One-shot must consist of at least 500 and at most 3000 words. I will allow a 10% margin.

   

   

• Keep it appropriate. You don't have to write a children's story, but we don't need porn. I think.

   

   

• All entries will be sent to me via PM.

   

   

• Don't sneakily include your or anyone's username in the story. We don't want biased voting

   

   

• Uhh have fun?

 

 

Entry deadline: Sunday 6th of July

Voting deadline: Thursday 10th of July

Please tell me if you think the deadlines should be shorter or longer! I've decided to go with a slightly longer voting deadline as to give users the time to read all the stories thoroughly.

I am not good at things like this, but I'm super duper excited about this contest!! I won't be entering, but this is a fantastic idea and i can't wait to read all the short stories.

Plus dragons rule.

Both are allowed! Original characters, fandoms or mixes are allowed. Just make sure the story is understandable even for people who don't follow the fandom.

TOTALLY not good at this stuff, but it looks interesting (and the deadline is reasonable!). I plan to try to get something together for it.

I'll definitely be entering. I'll probably start and finish it this weekend when I actually have time.

 

I want to end my entry with: "... he clenched his teeth as he delicately gripped it out, letting out a steamy sigh the second the tip exited the flesh."

Gun to the head: Did you think I was writing an erotica? Shame on you. I was thinking of a dragon tooth, an arrow, or a stake piercing the protagonist's arm.
