He doesn't have to drink to go to a party. :p (Though I did, everybody I knew then did and quite a lot younger than 16 too... xD)

Well, that's not very shenanigan-y!

I actually forgot about the fact that I used to sneak my parents alcohol and get drunk. Do you think they ever noticed? hahaha probably.

I'm lucky that my parents never discouraged me from drinking. My mom buys my alcohol for me -w-

Yeah, I wasn't discouraged but I was never encouraged to drink until they thought I was old enough - which, for them, was when I was in college because they knew I was going to drink anyway. Once I was in college, my parents started offering me beer or buying it for me, and I felt like it was a trap.

Now I'm 21 going on 22 and they don't give a fuck for obvious reasons.

Americans are weird. I was drinking at 12 on the street, 14 in pubs and 16 with parents. I couldn't imagine anyone in this country waiting until they were 21...

I don't know many people (or anyone at all, really) who actually waited until they turned 21.

Yep. I do know some people who are like 25 though and their parents still disapprove of them having a beer with dinner.

LIKE... WHAT?

My parents let me drink whenever as long as I was honest that I was going to go out and drink. It seems like a good system to me

I secretly thought I had to be smarter and more special than most people around me, because I was deeply insecure, and yet too distrustful to reveal it. So I kept away from other people and only stayed in my own thoughts and justifications of my own intelligence. It took me quite a while to realise that.
