What do you name your Pocket Monsters™?

I name all my buggers "Slave", because let's get real, Pokemon is just a glorified animal enslavement :p

I hardly name my Pokemon, but when I do, I name my starters after Greek gods or constellations. (ex. I named my Samurott Poseidon)

Depends on the game, I usually follow a theme.

In Black and White (1 and 2), it was mythological beings. Like "Pele" for a female Fire Type or "Seth" for my Cofagrigus.

For Y, all my pokes are named after 19th century literary characters. (My favourites are Hyde the Krookodile and a raichu named Victor after Frankenstein because hurr he knows thunderbolt).

Haven't decided what to do for Omega Ruby yet! Guess I'll see when the time comes.

I only name the Chin-pokomon that I want on my team, and I usually give them stupid and really quite condescending nicknames. I love the bastards though. :3

I haven't played Pokemon in a while, but I usually don't nickname them because that takes too much effort.

I don't name my pokémon until I beat Elite Four. After that, I name them after their appearence, like Lillymon for Lilligant, Bob Marley for Mesprit, Kratos for Zangoose, or even some more elaborated, like my Moltres called Paula Fernandes.

The reason for the Moltres: Paula Fernandes is a country music singer in Brazil, and one of her songs is called "Pássaro de Fogo", Fire Bird. Moltres is a Fire Bird, so...

No lie I name them as adorable as possible. My brother names them accurately too I think.
He gave my male Slyveon the name Angel. My Raichu is named Chu girly stuff.

I don't name them anything. I used to want to, but then I had no idea what name I could give them that would really reflect what they meant/would mean to me after I got into the game. And then it sort of became a habit of mine not to give them a name.

I usually make my teams all-female, and give them names ending in -y that riff off their species.

That's unsurprisingly specific.

I don't follow set themes, except when I started W2 I wanted Latin sounding names, so I've got Aequitas and Agilitas. But I forgot I was doing that around gym 3, so I've also got Mongoloid (a Zangoose) Jehovah (a Drifblim) and Sarajevo (a Banette).

I usually don't name them unless I'm sure I can remember the actual name of the Pokemon :p If I can it will be something silly like Twiggy for my main grass type.

I enjoy naming my Pokemon ordinary and average names like Larry, Joe, and Susan so the other person would feel worse about losing.

Just whatever I think of off the top of my head at the time. Usually references to things, like an Illumise named Serenity or a pair of Sylveons named Oberon and Titania.

I used to enjoy this so much. I couldn't understand why people would name pokemon back when it was played on Gameboy. Especially because this:

I usually don't name them unless I'm sure I can remember the actual name of the Pokemon :p

150 was so many when that was more than any comparable game. Now it's like, whupty do.

I always decide on a whim. Off the top of my head: Roserade is named Hemlock, Charizard is named Hades, and Snorlax is named Boop. :3
