Water is my favourite. It always performs well in battles, has been there since Gen I, and is necessary for pretty much half of Hoenn. 
There are other reasons too, but those are the main ones. 
I universally have problems with fire types on my run-throughs. :V
Who could blame you? Fire is the weakest type, in my opinion; have fun getting one-shotted by almost everything, fire type users!

Water type is my favorite too, especially since they can also learn ice-type moves.

Flying!! I don't think there's a single flying Pokemon I don't like!! ^^ <3 I love grass and fairy Pokemon too!! Ice and poison are always a problem for my teams hahah, and of course poison's gotten popular thanks to gen 6 >w<

Dark and Ground types, but for different reasons. Dark for aesthetics and ground for usefulness.

I'm super casual with pokemon. The only time I ever play a pokemon game, I play it with a randomized rom. Last game I played, I started with a Ghost/Ice Gliscor who started with Aurora Beam, and it was awesome. Apparently only one pokemon has that type normally, but whatever

I dont think i have just 1 favourite type... I have favourite pokemon but i've never given the types much thought. Probably Dragon.
