hi I drew one of my neopets in human form because I'm incredibly lame but this is the first time I've picked up a pencil/tablet pen in years and I need help.

So before I attempt to color this, can people give me some constructive criticism?

Particularly regarding the hair, proportions, and how the lines look. also how 2 draw wrinkles/ruffles in clothes???

If anyone's wondering, here's the neopets items I used as reference:

Spoiler

And here's the drawing:

Thanks guys!

Dang, looks pretty good so far. Better than anything I could do. Only thing I can think is maybe adding the shell or something in her hair? ^.^ sorry I couldnt be much help.

Also probably wont look as plain once you color it (if you are planning on coloring it, that is)

Aww well thank you both!

I'm still conflicted as to whether or not I want to add the shell because I feel like it doesn't really go with the dress, but idk.

Wow, you're really talented. Maybe you could replace the shell with a bow to match the bows on the dress? I dunno :p

I'm actually very impressed with the lineart, especially how you made the folds in the dress and the sleeve puffs (I could never do that!)  I suppose the only CC I have is that you can put some lineart details in her hair to compliment the other busy lineart you have in the dress.

I can't wait to see how this turns out when it's colored! :D

Everyone's being so nice thank you ;~;

I was worrying that all the folds were looking contrived, I basically just covered the dress in a bunch of fast brush strokes to try and make the ruffles. So thank you!

And Iguess the hair does look like a big block, I usually have trouble trying to break hair into strands though. Usually it comes out like Medusa :p I've been looking up some tutorials though so I'll try it.

On top of what scrafty said about adding detail to the hair, the things I think you should change are the following:

-left arm seems longer than right arm

-thorax is too wide for the size abdomen

-torso too short for the length of the legs

I had to google what a thorax was. :p So basically, her boob to waist ratio is off? Her arms are in front of her so that might be why her waist looks really small in comparison, but let me look at it again. Since the ball gown flows out at her waist it makes her torso look a lot shorter, her hips are about the level of the ball on her staff. Is that too still short? And I meant to make the right arm slightly bent, but let me look at it again also.

Thank you for the help!!

Alright I changed the hair, here's the new one:

I love it  Something you could try experimenting with is thick lines here and there to draw attention to some places.

I tend to find line-art with the same stroke a bit boring after a while :)

maybe add the ears? it looks too human, unless that's what you intend to accomplish. :p

the fingers look kinda awkward as well. they need to be longer. idk. xD but good job on the drawing! it's lovely. :)

Also a heads up in case you wanted to enter it in the beauty contest/ art gallery, they don't allow anthro drawings :(

Yeah, I don't have any experience drawing anthro so I don't really ever intend to enter the beauty contest :p

Thanks for the suggestions though!

I agree about the thick/thin lines, but I'm not sure which lines are supposed to be thick and which ones aren't. X_X I think it's supposed to do with shading or perspective or something but I'm pretty bad at both. I guess I'll just mess around with it more.

And I intended for only the first knuckle of her hands to be shown since she's holding the staff. But I agree it does look a bit awkward so I'll try and fix that today.

You don't have to add the shell if you don't like, try replace it for a bow, or any shape you like. Those hair pins have a LOT of shapes and colours. Just improve.

Just improve.

That's my aim hehe. I think I might redraw this completely when I have time, I just don't feel like it's really reaching my vision right now.
